About Meeks Bay Resort

NO PETS ARE ALLOWED ANYWHERE AT THE RESORT! Meeks Bay Resort has a long tradition as a family vacation and holiday retreat. It is located on western shore of the famed Lake Tahoe (Da ow aga), far away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The Washoe Tribe has been a part of the Meeks Bay area of Lake Tahoe (Da ow aga) for many millenium. Their link to the land is an important part of the Meeks Bay Resort charm. It is the perfect spot to recharge those drained reserves and immerse oneself in the spectacular rustic environment.    Enjoy the sandy Meeks Bay beach, or rent a kayak or paddle board and venture out onto blue waters. Explore the hiking trails that lead both north and south along the lake as well as the Meeks Bay Trail which climbs into the Sierra Nevada Desolation Wilderness Area to Phipps Pass and beyond. For more details download the document available from the US Forestry Service.   The Resort has abundant Day-Use parking and a grill for the hungry camper. Stop by the main building for supplies, toys and clothes, and perhaps a chat with one of the Washoe Tribe members.  The resort offers all levels of vacation facilities from the historic Kehlet Mansion and the Washoe House, several cabins and lodges, full hookup RV spots, and standard tent campsites. Many couples have begun their wedded life together and families regularly hold their reunions at the Resort. Group reservations can be made on Recreation.gov or by phone to the call center.   Meeks Bay Campground is now an integral part of the Meeks Bay Resort. NO PETS ARE ALLOWED ANYWHERE AT THE RESORT!

This is our third year at Meek’s Bay Resort. We have a 23’ MH. We love this campsite. A beautiful bike trail begins north right in the campground.
The beach on the Lake is beautiful and all the large trees add to the beauty. Restrooms and campground are clean. Magical place.

Our stay here was wonderful! We were in lodge 17 which is quaint and simple but just what we were looking for as we weren't planning on cooking much. The heater in the bathroom is very nice and adds a cozy atmospheric light to the space. We utilized the porch a bunch-- right on the water and was so nice to look out at night or watch the sunrise. We also had a harvest moon during our stay which was perfect. I was a bit worried about being able to get a fire pit as there were a few families staying at the lodge and only a couple fire pits in the area, but we got one with no trouble and had a great campfire for a few hours.

It was a bit pricey but makes sense for tahoe. Only thing they could've provided were prices at the general store-- everything was unmarked. Aside from this staff were friendly and great, quiet, beautiful location very central to emerald bay, Tahoma, and some other great state parks.

Lovely place, but nights ruined by neighbors loudly partying well past quiet hours and getting into conflicts with bears because they didn’t store their food correctly. Bear lockers need to be updated. Resort needs to do a better job of telling people to stay quiet and make sure they know how to store their food correctly.

We loved being able to take our bikes right from the camp ground and ride them to chambers on the water. Very awesome!! However there was a lot of construction going on around our campsight I wasn’t sure if the bike path went south or not. The camp sight was level. We got great sleep there. We felt safe. We hung out in the beach and it was absolutely beautiful. We lived our stay at Meeks.

Wonderful campground. Come prepared because local prices, for anything, are exorbitant. The site did have low ground and would not be a good spot in the event of rain of which we had none. There was bear activity every night so mind your ps and qs. A couple next door came in late and starting preparing a meal after dark. Haha, the first bear arrived in about three minutes.
Got some good casting practice in. There are small native rainbows, emphasis on small, in the creek outlet. Recommend bait casting from shore, worms 5' to 6' off the bottom or spinners close to big rocks. I think the water surface is still to warm for the nice browns to come close in, but soon. Swimming was good though. Had a great time and still get chuckles from the bear show.......

We had sewer construction going on at the back of our campsite on the weekdays that we were there. It would have been nice to have been told about this and given the opportunity to cancel penalty free, but that’s not how this resort is managed.
The whole non-refundable deposit fee separate from the camping fee is easily the most annoying thing I have ever encountered with online camping reservations.
All that said, the resort is in a great spot on a beautiful lake so we will return.
