What Guests Are Saying

Horse Creek Campground offers stunning views and a serene atmosphere, making it a delightful choice for families and nature enthusiasts. While some amenities, particularly restrooms and showers, were closed or in poor condition, many visitors appreciated the cleanliness of the portable toilets and the overall beauty of the site. The campground's proximity to Sequoia National Park and friendly rangers contributed to a positive experience for most campers, despite minor maintenance issues.

The campsites were kept clean. It was strongly recommended to us that we avoid the bathrooms and showers if possible because they were dirty due to a lack of janitorial crew, but we didn't venture that way as we had our trailer. No matter the time of year the views are incredible. However, the "camp host" AKA maintenance guy was difficult to get along with. If you plan to venture out in the morning, don't plan on the gate being open when the sign says. This place NEEDS a camp host.

What a beautiful campsite we had at site #30. We were almost the only people in the campground due to the weather. It had been raining but the sun was shinning for us. The head Ranger, Ryan, was extremely helpful to us. The camp host/worker was very nice as well. We will be back!

We stayed at camp site 20. None of the sites were off in-fact our assigned site was 26 but we moved as soon as we got there due to huge pile of brush being directly in the middle of our assigned camp site. All the other sites were quite the same there were even some with huge fallen over trees and logs covering the picnic tables. We purposely chose our site to be close to the restrooms located at the at the far end of the campgrounds, how ever the bathrooms were locked upon our arrival. We were able to flag down a maintenance worker to get them open after about 6 hours of walking back and forth to the camp office (which wasn’t open or occupied not a single time during our two day stay). He got them open but the toilets were full of algae the floors were covered in leaves and dead mosquitoes to the point they were crunching under foot as you walked in. The sinks were full of spider webs. When we had asked maintenance to open them for us he responded with “Ya but they ain’t gonna be cleaned”. The only restrooms available are at the top of the hill so if your wanting to stay close to bathrooms camp at the entrance side of the campgrounds. Don’t expect to be able to talk to a camp host there are none. There is zero shade which is to be expected. The quiet hours are not enforced what so ever (again no camp host). We hated the place and won’t be returning don’t wasted your 20$ a night. I feel like they should be paying the public to stay there. 0 out 5 stars. 10/10 would not recommend spend the extra money and drive 10 minutes up the road to three rivers to camp TRUST ME.

Pro: great location for exploring nearby national parks and the wonderful town of Three Rivers, beautiful view, great potable water supply, good wildlife viewing.

Con: right next to highway, got flooded and wasn't really cleaned up before reopening, showers only ran at scalding temps, never saw host in 4 day stay, minimally cleaned/stocked bathrooms, big sites but no privacy

the place was in bad shape looks like they had a lot of storm damage the bathroom right next to are camp ground was closed so you had to walk a 1/4 mile to get to the portable bathroom that was not good but the price was great at $20 and we were only there one night and are camp had a good view of the lake and mountains so i give it was not bad place to spend the night
would have been nice if you told people in advance the bathroom was closed

Was disappointed upon arrival, but grateful for a place to stay.
An on-site host would've been helpful. Nobody to check us in and waited until the next morning for the ranger to give us some information. It wasn't really a big deal until the party camp rolled in Friday night being loud and fighting until 4am.
Really enjoyed the sounds of the wild before Friday.
Would love to come back when the water is up!

Plan to arrive before 9 PM (front gate closes at that time, visited in late September). Your campsite may be far from an available restroom, plan accordingly and find a campsite map.
