Lodgepole Campground is located in the breathtaking Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in central California's rugged Sierra Nevada range. Lodgepole is perched on the banks of the scenic and lengthy Marble Fork of the Kaweah River, at an elevation of 6.7 ft. The park was beautiful and facilities at the visitor center were very well kept and stocked. The campground facilities could be maintained more and the campsite could have had less rocks. Also the trees near the parking could be inspected for removal. The one above the parking assigned to our spot looked like it was dying and had pine cones dropping every few minutes and shattered our windshield. Otherwise truly enjoyed the park.

Our family of 4 was in site 24 for one night and site 151 for three nights. Our 33-foot Rv fit in both just fine. Site 151 was a dream site! It was very large and right on the river. There were a few trees for some shade but we wanted to sit in the sun and were able to do that all afternoon. We loved how attentive the rangers were with helping the campground to be a good experience for everyone. They enforced the rules including packing away food/beverages and not allowing campfires due to the burn ban. This was important because there was a sow bear with 2 cubs in the campground while we were there and everyone remained safe.

The biggest problem with this campground was the condition of the restrooms. They were, without exaggeration, some of the dirtiest and most poorly maintained restrooms I have ever encountered anywhere.
The level of dirt and lack of cleanliness was extremely unpleasant and difficult to put into words. It was genuinely hard to even stay inside for 30 seconds, even just to use the restroom quickly.
I understand that this is a campground and that facilities are not expected to be luxurious. However, basic cleanliness and sanitation should be a minimum standard. Unfortunately, the condition of the restrooms made the overall experience very disappointing.

The campsite lacks privacy in general. The ground is full of dirt. The bathroom is stinky. Compared with those campsites in other national parks in USA (e.g. Glacier National park) and in Canada (e.g. Banff national park), this campground is not good enough.

Lodgepole is a very centrally located campground to visit Sequoia National Park. There are several loops in the campground and your experience will vary greatly based on location. During the summer, it is highly recommended to use the free shuttle and not hassle with parking. The lodgepole market is close by with laundry and showers, along with grill type dinning options.

Campground was well maintained, and had a nice set of little trees as partial privacy, plus allowed for good birdwatching. Easy short walk to a bathroom and water spigot. Easy check in/out. Relatively short walk to the shuttles to access the entire rest of the park.

Very nice and slightly secluded spot with a wonderful sunset view and great view of the stars at night. Available bathroom, water, and showers nearby, and easy access to Tokopah Falls and the Lodgepole bus routes.

  • If your campsite remains vacant for 24 hours after your arrival date it will be cancelled and made available on rec.gov. You will be charged for the first night's campsite fee and a $20 cancellation fee, all other fees after that will be refunded. Recreation.gov policies apply to all reservations, cancellations, refunds and date changes.&nbsp; Call (559) 565-4404 if you will be arriving 24 hours after your arrival date so your site won't be cancelled. To leave a message call (559) 565-3714.Upon making a campground reservation: Site occupants agree to follow ALL campground rules. Failure to comply may result in a fine. You are responsible for your guests.&nbsp;
  • Quiet Hours 10pm to 6am- Music, talking, and generators should not be audible beyond your immediate campsite. Unreasonable noise is prohibited any time of day.
  • Tire Chains may be required at any time. Be prepared at any time of year for a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions. Check Road Conditions at nps.gov/seki . Vehicles longer than 22 feet (including trailers) are not advised between Potwisha Campground and the Giant Forest Museum. Visitors with vehicles over 22 feet in total length hoping to visit the Giant Forest or camp at Lodgepole and Dorst Creek Campgrounds are advised to enter via the northern, Highway 180, entrance to these parks.
  • Dangerous Rivers! Many drowning victims were playing near rivers. Rivers present a far greater danger than lakes or pools. Surfaces may look calm, but strong currents often run below. Be cautious walking near rivers as rocks can be slippery. Getting out of a cold, swift river is often impossible.  Falling Objects - Don't linger under dead, cracked, or broken branches. Run if you hear cracks or snapping from tree roots, trunks, or branches (know that sometimes there is no sound, and very little time to react). Report falling branches or trees to a ranger.
  • A California state fishing license is required to fish in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, and Sequoia National Forest lakes and streams. Fishing licenses may be available at National Park and National Forest markets.
