What Guests Are Saying
Sentinel Campground offers a beautiful setting with spacious, shaded sites and proximity to the river, making it ideal for hiking and outdoor activities. Many visitors appreciate the serene atmosphere and the campground's access to nearby amenities, such as the store and ranger programs. However, the facilities, particularly the restrooms, are in disrepair and require maintenance, which detracts from the overall experience.

with as difficult as it was to reserve a camping spot 4 months ago, I was very surprised to see so many open camping spots, If someone could figure out how to not allow so many spots to go unused that would be great, and it would give us more opportunities to reserve. Also, Most of the bathrooms had some sort of plumbing issue, I would hope there would be enough if the budget to repair the bathrooms in a timely manner. We do love Cedar Grove, but that would be my feedback

A lot of the bathroom sinks were out of order and they were definitely not maintained in terms of cleanliness. I don’t understand why on Recreation.gov it says 90% of the campsites are reserved and yet only about 50% actually had people in them?

I tried so hard to book a weeks stay at Sentinel that sites filled up too fast. I was able to get a day here in a day there. The problem is when I actually got to Sentinel. Most of the sites were empty? This means people reserved and paid for them, but didn’t bother to show up. There is no enforcement for empty sites. This means people who would show up don’t have access to the national park. Additionally, many of the bathrooms had plumbing or were out of service. I love Cedar Grove but it is not being taken care of.

We always love camping in Kings Canyon. I even got to experience a yearling bear 3 feet from me in camp.

Due to budget cuts, maintenance and custodial staff were cut dramatically. Every bathroom we went in had at least 1 toilet or sink out of order and the state of the bathrooms was terrible. Absolutely disgusting. Several points on the road needed repair and had been that way for quite a while. Worst i have ever seen it in the last 40 years.

Campsite 27 was clean and ready to use. Very few bugs. We walked to Cedar Grove Grill to get dinner -- pulled pork sandwich for me and burgers for my friends.
The only downside was that the closest men's restroom only had one working toilet -- no other running water inside the restroom (but water at outside sink).

I’m not sure if it’s a staffing issue, but it be great if quiet hours were enforced. There was a college-age party that went on till 3:00 AM. I feel bad for the families with smaller children who had to listen to the noise at all hours of the night. Not the wilderness experience that people come to experience.
