This is a heavily trafficked campground whose wildlife has been negatively impacted by human interactions. Bears cruise though the site every night setting off car alarms and looking for food in the fire pits. A woman was feeding a group of young buck deer white bread while we there and when asked to stop by many campers she got irate. Campers here could use more education about leave no trace camping techniques and our responsibilities to keep animals in the parks wild. The group of deer raided an unattended tent site and had to be chased off. This campground needs better dish washing facilities for so much animal interaction. At our area 166 there was only a spigot and huge dumpsters. Not very user friendly to make zero trace cleanup easy. This campground’s adjacency to the Tokopaw waterfall trail is amazing and there are great swimming holes right in the campground

The name of the campground gets its name for a reason. The sunset view is gorgeous here and it is a bit less busy compared to other campgrounds in Sequoia which we loved! Definitely worth spending time!

The name of the campground gets its name for a reason. The sunset view is gorgeous here and it is a bit less busy compared to other campgrounds in Sequoia which we loved! Definitely worth spending time!

Campgrounds were clean and each site has a bear box for food storage. The tent pad wasn’t very level and the campsites are crowded fairly close together. One thing to keep in mind is that there are no showers here.

The campsite met our expectations....bathrooms are super clean and the setup was easy.
We did a quick hike on the North Loop with younger kids that was perfect distance and difficulty.

The camp spots are by far to close together, We had a tent right next to our, almost touching each others tent and a 3rd one right next to it.
These were the smallest camp spaces we ever experienced and we didn't like it..

Kings Canyon National Park is easily accessible from Fresno, California. Take HWY 180 East from Fresno, and proceed 55 miles to Kings Canyon National Park. Three miles east of the Big Stump Entrance Station you will find Sunset campground on your left.
