Sunset Campground (CA)

Excellent location with gorgeous sunset views in the evening. The visitor's center, market, gift shop, and restaurant are within walking distance or a very short drive from the campground. We hiked from Sunset Camp to Grant Grove and the North Grove Trail to see the giant sequoias. We also visited Buck Rock Lookout and Panoramic Point. I would recommend a four-wheel drive vehicle to get up to the Buck Rock Lookout, as the dirt road leading up to the site is a bit rough. I recommend visitors wear sturdy shoes when visiting and/or hiking any of these locations. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets from Campsite #40, and gorgeous sunrises at Panoramic Point.

One of the worst sites we’ve ever camped on - and we’ve seen a lot of NPS campgrounds. The spot did not have any flat surface, as such, it is impossible if you want to sleep in a tent without laying on a 20 degrees angle. And not only this spot, we walked around over the campground and spotted maybe a few good spots, mostly at the borders of the higher loops. Spots were small, crowded, and there was a lot of noise. After this night we decided to cancel our further stay at Sequoia.

Perfect for multiple family. We got 22, 24, 25, lot's of privacy. We hade a total of 6 ⛺️ total
3 10x12 and 2 7x7 ⛺️ scader trough campground down hill. Must bring picnic table's. We hade 4 Hammocks. It's pretty sunny especially after 9am. 1/4 mile to the west you will find plenty of🔥 🪵.
Canopy tents are a plus for shade.

A perfect place for camping, so biutiful, peaceful, my vacation was just amazing.

My family and I really enjoyed ourselves at sunset campground. I would be prepared for no reception anywhere nearby. It’s around the corner from the visitors center which has a little convenience store and restaurant which was super convenient! Very green, very beautiful. I’d highly recommend to bring lots of board games and plan out your trip in advance so you can explore as much as possible. Also, bring hand soap for the bathrooms!

nearby restroom... no hand dryer or soap dispenser. Faucet spun around wildly, quite loose. Park requested washing at restroom wash sink and not the fresh water supply spigots, well... the wash basin didn't exist therefore we used the water spigot to rinse dishes. First time ever, we had to share
the parking spot with others, no privacy or isolation, could here every word of conversation around us. Really??? With unlimited land the campsite
had to be so close together , worse I've ever encounter. After viewing giant Sequoia trees we decided to leave on third day and take to financial loss
for the last days stay. National park is wonderful but campsite is another matter. Oh..... they were filling road cracks with liquid tar and closed down
an entire campground for several days... those poor folks who had planned well in advance got screwed. Fortunately, it's 'that' campground we were able to park in to see Sequoia trees. Parking was OK but not for those who had reservations to camp... Very poor planning, peak of the season.
