What Guests Are Saying
Alpine Meadow Campground offers a quiet and well-maintained environment with spacious campsites, making it a great choice for those exploring the Tahoe/Truckee area. Many visitors praised the cleanliness of the facilities and the helpfulness of the host. However, caution is advised regarding potential health concerns from tall grass, and some noise from nearby trains and the airport may be an issue for light sleepers.

Our campsite #16 was spacious enough for our 10 person tent. We appreciated the fire pit with the grate, the pole with the hook which we used for our lantern, and the bear locker for our food! There was a clear path to the restrooms and everyone was courteous. We could see and hear people in other campsites but still felt like we had privacy!

There’s minimal contact w staff person, though friendly and available when they drove by. Thank you.

This campground was immaculate! Logs and sumps lining the roads and camping spots. Rocks were laid round circling small plants. Each site had a picnic table, a bear box, a bbq, a campfire ring and a bear pole with a hook. Bathrooms were very clean. There are about 24 sites including the tent sites. We stayed at site 20 and we did not need to use any leveling ramps.

Such a peaceful spot to camp. Very well kept, clean, and quiet. Because you’re right next to the airport, you hear airplanes throughout the day and the train. Dependent upon what site you’re at, you might see and hear the skydivers that land close by to the site. Large Bear boxes are provided and there’s no check in process; you just come to your site and set up. It’s around the corner from the lake and about 30 mins from Lake Tahoe.

I was a little bummed that a reservation is now required for this campground. I have been coming here for at least 15 years and it was always great to just show up. Other than that, always a nice place to camp. Well maintained and the hosts have always been friendly and willing to help with any issues that arise.

Took a wonderful drive up Old Highway 40 up to the overlook and bridge and views of Donner Lake on the way . Drive into old Truckee for the day. Geocaching is fun in the area too

Campsites were separate enough for privacy and big enough for vehicles.
