Prosser Family

The camp host was fabulous! We knew going in that the sites didn’t have water. The lake was so refreshing to get into with our kids and dog. It didn’t have beaches per se and the low waterline exposed a lot of dusty dirt leading down to the water. There was plenty of shade - big pines- in the campground and nice spacing between sites. We will stay here again! Seems like most people use it as a launching spot to go off to hike, boat, or go into Truckee. The hot afternoons aren’t appealing to sit around camp (but we did hit a particularly hot spell August 6-10).

I have been coming here for awhile now. I have always felt safe. It's a beautiful peaceful place with a lot to offer.
I love the bald eagles. The balloons. Coyotes singing. The occasional mountain lion that screams not to far off in the distance. The birds ect. The wildflowers are beautiful.

The campground is clean and the bathrooms have always been kept stocked and clean. I've never seen left over trash strung everywhere. The sites all have bear boxes. You must bring your own water. One thing I don't understand is generators that have to run morning till night. If you have to run a generator the entire time you are here,,,,, WHY are you here?????. Go home!!!!!!!
The current hostess Kim does an amazing job. She is very helpful and approachable. She's always busy on the grounds keeping everything beautiful. Even her own site is high and tight. She's doing a fantastic job. Thank you Kim

Prosser Family Campground was very peaceful and quiet. I had lots of friends visit from Truckee. And downtown Truckee is just 10 minutes away. The restrooms were clean and tidy; plenty of toilet paper.

This is our third year going to Prosser Lake. We have enjoyed every year, especially this year with all the hot air balloons that were launched. My only complaint is that there is no water in the campground for the third straight year. We have decided to look at other sites for next year.

We stayed at Prosser Family Campground primarily because we wanted to spend time paddleboarding on Prosser Reservoir. The area is much quieter and less crowded than the popular beaches around Lake Tahoe, and reservations also seem easier to find. The campground staff were friendly, the restrooms were kept clean, and the reservoir had calm, relatively warm, shallow water that was generally well suited for paddleboarding.

However, the biggest disadvantage for us was the distance from our campsite to the water. Prosser Reservoir has an unusual, long, forked shape, and the campground is located between its two arms. At least from our site, there was no convenient path or walkable access to the shoreline. Every time we wanted to launch our paddleboards, we had to load everything into the car and drive to either the boat ramp or a separate beach area. Since being close to the water was one of the main reasons for our trip, this was a significant inconvenience.

The shoreline itself was also disappointing. Instead of a sandy beach, the entrance to the water was muddy and silty, with some marshy areas and the noticeable smell of stagnant water. It was not unbearable, and I have certainly seen worse lake bottoms, but it took away from the overall experience.

During our stay, there was also no running water available near the campsites. To their credit, the campground staff brought in large water tanks and provided buckets, which was very helpful for washing hands and safely putting out campfires, although the water was not intended for drinking.

Overall, this campground may be a good choice for people looking for a peaceful, uncrowded place near Truckee. However, because of the lack of walkable water access from our campsite and the muddy, unpleasant shoreline, we would probably not return

Campsite 5 was good except the constant stream of people using the restroom walking close to the rear of the campsite. We got a different of the bathroom every now and then, but not too bad. The host was very nice and helpful. Verizon service worked there.

We really enjoyed this campground! It was quiet, sites where we stayed were a good distance apart. The toilets were clean, and not too smelly, considering they are pit toilets. Our only issue was there was no water. We came prepared and had plenty of water for us and our dogs.

The location of the camp and this site itself was great. Easy walk with boards and kayaks to the water. Great shade coverage across the day. plenty of space for our crew and dogs.
Camp hosts were great as well. Helpful as needed but never bothered and very accommodating. They seem to enjoy what they do and take it seriously.
The bathrooms were very nice and clean. One of the teens in our group said it was the cleanest bathroom she's ever seen in a campground. High praise from a critical eye!

I had low expectations of this location and it couldn’t even meet them. Will not return

Besides having no working water at the campground the facilities were clean and well maintained.
