Our site had no shade but it was close to the water; most people have rvs but with a tent you had to walk to the bathrooms. Beautiful location though.

The campsite itself was not very flat, we found it difficult to place our tent in a comfortable spot and for our trailer we had to use a lot of wood and blocks to try to level it and it wasn’t enough. Additionally the camp host was very rude to us regarding music before quiet hours even began, even though we had spoken to her before when we first checked in while our music was playing at the same volume and she said the music was fine. We had 3 campsites in a row and you could not hear our music from any other sites. It made us feel like we had to be extremely quiet and honestly made us feel very uncomfortable. It may have been different if she was nicer about it but she pulled up very quickly on her golf cart (made it feel a bit aggressive) and then snapped at us instantly and said she was upset to be out in her pajamas after she already told us to keep the music down (which she had not as she told us the music was fine earlier). She also said she noticed we turned it down as she approach, which we did not - it remained at the same volume the entire time. Other campers also seemed to be extremely quiet and not very friendly. I would not recommend staying here unless you are wanting nothing but silence and to be alone. I have never stayed in a campground like that before. We will not be back, we usually use the prosser family site and will continue to do that as it’s much more enjoyable.

Nice spot! Love the reservoir to camp, nice shady trees for a walk, big spaces for camping.

Absolutely fantastic campsite location. Very large plots, some in full sun, some in tree coverage. Clean facilities.
However, both times I’ve camped there, my fellow campers have been terrible. Multiple vehicles (over the limit) in each site, speakers (and once a karaoke machine?!) on all day (not stopping at 10), just way more of a party spot than it seemed.
My advice is to book the spots further away from the water closer to the road. They’re actually the quiet spots and the trees help block the noise a little bit.

From Interstate 80 in Truckee take exit 188, Highway 89 north toward Sierraville. In approximately 3.5 miles turn right at the sign for Prosser Recreation Sites. In one mile the campground will be on the left. 13453 Old Highway 89, Truckee, CA 96161

General
- Off-road vehicles can only be used to enter and exit the facility. Recreational riding is not allowed in the campground.

- Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed. For current fire conditions or weather closures contact the Truckee Ranger District (530) 587-3558 (voice), (530) 587-6907 (TDD).
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect California's forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. For more information visit firewood.ca.gov.
- Firewood available from the campground host (subject to availability).
- One vehicle included with reservation. Additional vehicle fee cost is $10/each per night for all vehicles. All operable, highway legal vehicles must pay extra vehicle fee, excluding the single vehicle included with the reservation. Please pay extra vehicle fee at the self-serve fee tube located near campground entrance if not paid online.
- Maximum 1 RV per site.
- Water will not be available at this facility for the 2026 season. Please plan accordingly when making a reservation and planning arrival.
- 6 people and 2 dogs maximum per site. Dogs shall always be kept on leash no longer than six feet or otherwise confined. Violation notices WILL be issued for non-compliance.
