No water, no electricity. Just basic camping with a great campground host this summer.

Our host Richard was a awesome host. He checked on us daily and even as he drove by he would constantly ask if we needed anything. As he leaves he would always say, “ have a great experience y’all”

Well-spaced campsites, not too far from nearby towns but deep enough in the woods where you don't hear any cars. Each site has a picnic table, grill, and bear locker. Quiet and family-friendly. 10-15-minute hike south or east down to the reservoir. Didn't see anyone swimming but water was warm for wading. Beach is fairly sloped downward and a tad gravelly but not bad for a book and a picnic. Pit toilets were fine. No hand sanitizer. Potable water taps were closed.

The campground host Richard was kind and helpful. The water was not working at the campground and there is no lighting at all. It makes for excellent stargazing on clear nights. Tenters should be aware to bring sufficient light sources.

Pit toilets had 200+ flies in them. The State of California needs to service the toilets multiple times per year as many people frequent the campgrounds.

Nice campsites and Richard is an excellent camp host who really likes his job. Being within 15 minutes of Truckee is a big bonus for reprovisioning.

Very nice campground, combination of shade provided by plentiful very large Pine trees (shown various pics), as well as sunny spots. Campsite was spotless, vault restrooms clean, nice large spaces between campsites do didn't feel crowded at all. It's close to Truckee so convenient if you need anything or want to go to the wide variety of restaurants available there. At the same time far enough away from I80 that you don't hear the traffic from there at all. Quiet and peaceful. Plenty of hiking from easy to moderate in that area. I had to work on the Monday I was there and had AT&T 5G with good signal and had no problem with connectivity or bandwidth. Shout out to the camp host who was extremely nice and personable.

This was a great place to dry camp. There were quite a few spots that our 39' motorhome fit, but there were many tent campers enjoying the campground as well. And if you are in a tent, the vault toilets were clean. So many biking and hiking trails in the area kept us busy for several days. The only reason for 4 stars is that the water was turned off. Apparently, according to the camp host, there is some malfunction at the source and there has been no water for several months. Not a problem for us as we arrived with a full fresh water tank, but we encountered many people who were caught unprepared by the water spigots not working.
