I threw my husband a 50th birthday at this location last time we went. It was a good time. We walked down to the reservoir as a group and enjoyed the sights and stood in the water. This place is beautiful and the camp ground is always nice to stay in. There does need to be an upgrade done to some of the picnic tables. The one in the space we stayed is falling apart and someone put the bench seat on the stumps where the trailer sits. We will always come back though. So pretty and very peaceful.

We were there in September with our trailer. The campground was nice and clean. Only a few other people at that time. Great hiking and biking trails nearby. The Donner Interpretive loop is 1.5 miles from camp. The walk through the meadow was so beautiful with all the fall colors just starting to change. I’d definitely come back.

There was no water. Check ahead so you don't get bushwhacked. This was a one-nighter for us and we would not have stayed any longer unless we had brought our kayaks.

Camphost was awesome! He came over and greeted us on the first day and said goodbye on the last day. Even brought us some firewood.

This is a nice, quiet, well-managed campground in what is otherwise the super-busy Truckee area. I gave it 4 stars only because of the water situation. I understand that pipes need to be repaired, but money is apparently not available to get it done. It doesn't seem to keep people away (we brought enough water for our 4-night family camp), so you do need to reserve. The sites are level and easy to back a small trailer into. Prosser Reservoir, a nature preserve, is within a short walk. We like wildlife and birdwatching, so we appreciate that no motorized boats are allowed.

My camp site was spacious and had a little trail leading down to the lake. While there were plenty of other folks at the campground, everyone was really respectful, quiet, and friendly. The campsite had plenty of flat spots for setting up a tent. Bathrooms were very clean. Be sure to bring plenty of water when potable water is not available.
