Our experience at Cottonwood Campground was wonderful. The campsites are large, with a lot of room for a couple of large tents. Bathrooms have running water and flush toilets and were well maintained. The camp hosts were extremely helpful and friendly.

We really enjoyed our visit. The Cottonwood campground is well looked after and the campsites are large and situated so they feel quite private. The views are amazing and nearby hikes are great.

This is a very tight campground and this site (A02) in particular has very little usable space. The amenities at the campground otherwise are as advertised.

With so many people around and noise during the day, we were surprised how quiet it was at night. We did get approached by the Park Rangers, some of our campers were out in the "wilderness area", which I appreciated the notification. I do think some signage, like small carsonite signs would be helpful for that purpose. Otherwise, great campground, clean bathrooms, campsites spread out pretty well!

We arrived late at the campground, but orientation was pretty easy.
The stars in the so have been amazing.
Closeby is a nice hike to the mastodon peak that we did the next morning.

Campground was clean and pretty quiet - especially for it being Spring Break. Having flush toilets was very much an added plus, even though we had a porta potty in our camper. Recommend hiking Mastodon Peak (start early in the AM), and if you can hike up to the top of the peak where the trailhead starts to loop back around to the parking lot. There are some open (sealed off for access) mine shafts right after the loop back, take a second to check them out too.
We also hiked Arch Rock and stopped by Skull Rock - not as impressive as Mastadon, but recommend if you're looking for an easier hike.

Facilities and campgrounds were great! Early spring is one of the best times to visit and hike.
