This was a great campsite with plenty of room for my crew of 4, spread across 3 tents. Beautiful scenery. Indian Cove has a chill vibe, I liked not being in the park's main drag, no traffic to get to/from the campground.
Climbers and others occasionally walked through the edges of the site to scramble/climb, all were polite. I felt bad for the people who reserved campsite 82, which has much less space for tents (and the space isn't flat). Not sure what could be done though, since 83's space is one big sand pad with a picnic table, fire ring, and grill, and it would be awkward to share it with another group.

Have camped here multiple times and had a great time...unfortunately our neighbors were super loud and annoying this time. We bailed after a few hours and found a different place to stay. Cool campground but you're stacked in pretty tight.

Our visit to Indian Cove Campground in Joshua Tree National Park was absolutely unforgettable. Surrounded by towering rock formations, the campground offers both privacy and stunning scenery. The unique desert landscape, especially at sunrise and sunset, was breathtaking and perfect for photography.
The campsites were spacious and well-maintained, with natural rock walls providing a secluded feel. We loved the easy access to nearby trails and the opportunity to scramble up the rocks directly from our site. Itβs an ideal spot for anyone seeking both adventure and tranquility.
At night, the stargazing was nothing short of magical. The clear desert skies came alive with countless stars, and the quiet serenity made the experience even more special. Sitting by the campfire, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere, was a highlight of our trip.
The facilities were clean and convenient, though itβs important to note thereβs no water on-site. Coming prepared made this a non-issue for us.

Take Interstate 10 to State Highway 62. Go past the West Entrance at Park Boulevard and continue east another 9.3 miles. Turn south on Indian Cove Road. Follow the road into the campground. If coming from the east, follow Highway 62 approximately seven miles west of the city of Twentynine Palms and turn south onto Indian Cove Road.
Indian Cove Campground is accessible via Interstate 10 and State Highway 62. It is located approximately 9.3 miles east of the West Entrance at Park Boulevard on Highway 62.

- Reservations are mandatory and can be made up to 6 months in advance or on the same day.
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.

Cancellation policy
- No-shows will incur a $20 fee and forfeit the first night's fee; the entire reservation will be canceled for no-shows.
Site capacity
- Each campsite allows up to six people and two vehicles, though some sites may have limitations; trailers count as vehicles.
Accessibility
- Access to the main park area is only via hiking trails; there is a $30 vehicle entrance fee in addition to camping fees.
Utilities
- Campsites do not have electric, water, or sewer hookups, and there is no nearby dump station; potable water is available 2 miles away.
Safety & rules
- Generators may only be used during designated hours: 7β9 am, noonβ2 pm, and 5β7 pm.
Pets
- Pets must be leashed and are welcome in the campground and nearby areas, but not on trails; leaving pets unattended is discouraged.
Fires & fuel
- Firewood must be obtained locally to prevent pest spread; do not use park vegetation for fuel.
- A fire ban is in effect, prohibiting all fires except gas or propane stoves, from June 15 to October 1.
Local regulations
- Organized events need a special use permit and must take place in designated areas; contact for details.
Wildlife & food storage
- To prevent invasive species, clean all gear and pets before entering or leaving the site and stay on designated paths.
