About Indian Cove Group

Download the NPS app prior to visiting the park – trail maps and more! Indian Cove Campground lies amid the huge, steep rock formations for which Joshua Tree National Park is known. Because of its proximity to many rock climbing routes, it is a popular camping location for climbers. Indian Cove Group is one of three group campgrounds in the park that can be reserved year round. To get the most out of your visit Plan Like a Park Ranger  Travelers who enjoy warm, dry winters flock to Joshua Tree from October through May, when temperatures hover between 70-90 degrees during the day and drop to a 40-60 degree range at night. Summer is the park's off-season due to the uncomfortably-high desert heat. Indian Cove is at an elevation of 3,200 feet.

Really enjoyed this campground. This site is smaller than many of the other group sites, but it is set up well with multiple picnic tables. Only minor complaint is the overall lack of a flat space to pitch a tent at this site.

Beautiful campsite, gorgeous views, climbing, hiking, and stargazing, clean bathrooms, easy to pack in and out, great for families! We’ll maintained, safe and quiet.

Great spot. Campsites are good and not too close together. The only downside is the prevailing 20 mph wind. But I think that is true at all JT campgrounds.

I am a middle school teacher and conduct a field trip once a year for my 7th grade classes. The park is exceptional and accommodating. We do a variety of activities and learning experiences. My only problem with the experience is the system by which we reserve campsites. It is a completely unfair system. That’s are so many people reserving campsites that they do not use. The reservation system is a disaster.

It’s always beautiful. We just stayed for the day, we had family in town from the east coast. We wanted them to experience Joshua Tree in all its glory with a bit of freedom. The campsite was free of trash and restrooms were freshly cleaned and close by.
