Kyen Campground offers a beautiful setting near Lake Mendocino, with clean facilities, hot showers, and friendly staff. Many visitors appreciated the spacious, private campsites and the lake's accessibility for swimming and fishing. However, some noted issues with noise from other campers, unlevel sites, and litter around the lake, but overall, most guests expressed a desire to return.

Campgrounds was crowded during the weekend and loud boats on Lake Mendocino. Bathroom could have been better maintained. Made the mistake of getting a site right next to road that bisects campground, tho good view of lake and easy to get to bathroom and lake. Made a shift after everyone left on Sunday and got the perfect quiet lakefront site with a cleaner bathroom. Staff exceedingly helpful.

Camp site 14 was great because we were separated from everyone else. The camp site sits on a slope so I would not recommend if you have limitations. The site also isn't the flatest but we made our 6 person tent work on the most level spot. The camp ground overall is very clean. The bathrooms are pretty far apart and pretty far from camp site 14. Showers were hot. The lake is huge and has plenty of beach areas around it to set up. The only down side, as mentioned in another review, is that there is a lot of animal activity down the back side of camp site 14. There is a dry revene that might be home to some large rodents of possibly deer. We never saw them but they were very active at night because we could hear them wrestling with branches and leaves. I just put my ear plugs in and slept like a baby. Will go back for sure.

The campground was nice. My biggest concern was the lack of camp personnel. Especially when they were needed to enforce the quiet time rules. Many campers continued to make loud noise and music long after 10 pm. It was quite annoying. Campsites are meant for relaxation.

I have always loved this campground. For the price you get a decent sized campsite, and showers and bathrooms. As well as a nice fire pit and water spigots close by. My complaint would be I kind of wish there was more staff, there was nobody at the main gate or anything. Only other complaint would be that the showers were a bit grungy. And I wish there was more bathrooms but fortunately where we stayed it was during the week and not very busy so we got to pick a place close to the bathroom.

I loved the campsite right on the water. The spot was private and spacious. I loved the bird life and seeing every family enjoying the area. Some people were swimming, kayaking, jet skiing, fishing and sailing. This was the first US Army Corps of Engineers Campground I visited. It was lovely.
