Anacapa Island offers a unique and beautiful camping experience with stunning views, especially at sunset, and opportunities for snorkeling and kayaking. While the island is home to many noisy gulls, most visitors find the experience magical and worth the minor inconveniences. The campsites are clean, and the amenities are well-maintained, making it a memorable destination for nature lovers.

Definitely a one of a kind experience. The island is beautiful. I was the only camper and there was no one at the ranger station so I was completely alone. The birds were very loud but I had been warned about that so that is not a complaint! They don't sleep at night despite being diurnal animals. It was also very windy. The campground is very minimal but you can't really expect shade and privacy on a volcanic rock island with no trees. The restroom was surprisingly clean and odor-free.

Gratefully, my friend and I were the only ones who booked a campsite the day we were there and essentially had the island to ourselves for sunset and sunrise the next day. The views are absolutely surreal. The gulls were everywhere, but after a bit, the bird noises start to sound like white noise. Did I get more than 3 hours of sleep? No. Did I have a magical experience well worth overlooking roughing it for one night? Yes.

What a special place! We loved it. It is raw and loud but worth every second. Snorkeling is amazing, sunsets are stunning. Campsites and bathrooms are clean and well maintained. The volunteer park ranger Mary was extremely knowledgeable, kind and sweet. Thank you to P&R for providing such a wonderful experience! We will be back!

Perfect for a short weekend trip! Easy to get there and see everything in one day at a slow pace. Quiet and sunny. Birds get loud but it’s the wind that makes it hard to sleep. Snorkeling and swimming was amazing. Would definitely come back for a day trip!
