The Santa Cruz Scorpion campground is highly praised for its beauty, tranquility, and the abundance of wildlife, particularly island foxes. Campers appreciate the well-maintained facilities, easy access to hiking trails, and the support from friendly park rangers. However, visitors noted some challenges with campsite congestion and occasional bathroom cleanliness issues, but overall, the experience is described as unforgettable and worth recommending.

Lots of easy trails to hike. Snorkeling is great, bring a wetsuit. Foxes are cute until the run off with something.

Camped on Site 12. To put it straight - that is the site with the least privacy on the entire campground. Feels totally amorphous, you have no vegetation to outline the boundaries and you are literally in the spotlight for everyone- your neighbors, for day-trip hikers, who pass by. no constant shade. But lots of room - you are a big group (max.6) you can pitch six tents:)

When the island is busy, Upper campground is SO much nicer than the Lower Campground (lots of loud groups close together). If you can, grab one of the two 6-person sites at Upper Campground... a little farther than Lower but totally worth it :)

My husband, daughter, and myself camped for two nights on the lower loop and had such a great time. The campground and bathroom facilities were extremely clean and well cared for. The campground's easy access to the boat was a huge plus. In the days we were there, we hiked about 34 miles. Our favorite hike was to Smugglers Cove because of the incredible views. The little foxes were so so cute!

We had an absolutely lovely time. Our party stayed at a group campsite which had locking food storage and pit toilets that were clean and well stocked with toilet paper. It was about a mile hike from the ferry to our group campsite. We enjoyed the beautiful hiking around the island and some members of our party snorkeled and enjoyed it greatly. Excited to come back again soon!

Great place to set up camp for day hikes in the area. There are a few interesting historical sites nearby. There is a small beach about half a mile away from the campground (by the pier) that you can swim in. Plenty of space between campsites and the island foxes love to get up close to swipe some of your food!

It was so much fun and we were not as prepared as we thought but everyone on the staff seemed to have seen it all. We very much had a good time
