The campgrand seems fine, but in my reservation, I requested a site that could accommodate our 17 ft travel trailer. That would not work in site 401. First, there is a huge step down from the road and second, I don’t think it would fit. This was disappointing.
We ended up parking the trailer elsewhere and sleeping in our van because there were no other sites available. Please just make sure the site info matches what is on the reservation info.

Clean, quiet, and convenient. The campground was at capacity yet it didn’t feel busy or chaotic.

The camp host did not enforce the 9 pm generator cutoff or the 10 pm quiet time. We had to go ask the neighbors to quiet down around 11:30 pm

I was a bit concerned reading the description of the site stating that the tent site was 35 ft downslope. It was a very gradual downslope and a nice distance from the road. Like most forested mountain campsites it was pretty dusty. The bear box was roomy enough and the table in good condition and stable. The bathrooms were clean. Most other campers showed up late afternoon evening and left fairly early in the morning.
There is a 2-mile trail to a viewpoint of the Clark Range (hike, ski, or snowshoe). Nearby is the Tuolumne Grove of Giant Sequoias. A real bonus was finding the Yosemite Helibase and Crane Flat Historic Fire Lookout. It was fun to see the folks do helicopter maneuvers and the view from the Fire Lookout was fantastic.

It would be nice to have evening ranger talks at the amphitheater at Crane Flat. It seems there are a lot more people hiking to the top of Cloud's Rest now that Half Dome requires permits. I noticed that people were turning back due to concerns over safety. I think a railing up on top would help ease peoples' fear.

We love this campground! It is only 30 minutes to the valley, and is much cooler in temperature. The updates are very nice, clean bathrooms, cleared out dead trees. It was (mostly) quiet and very peaceful.

Clean, nice layout, ample shade, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Elevated fire rings and picnic tables not an issue. However, a lot of sites have sloped parking which can be troublesome for some vehicles or trailers.

Policies & Rules
General
- You are responsible for reading the site alerts and booking a site that will accommodate your equipment. The campground has had a complete overhaul and every site has changed.
- If arriving one or more days late, call (209) 379-2123; your reservation will be cancelled if we do not hear from you within 24 hours of your arrival date.
- Bring proof of your reservation (screen shot or paper version). There is no internet access, cell service or public phone at Crane Flat.You must sign in at the entrance of the campground or you will be considered a no show and your reservation cancelled.Make your site look occupied--leave a chair or other equipment so we know you've arrived.
- Bears and wildlife live here! Food, scented items and toiletries must be stored 24 hours/day. Absolutely NO food stored in vehicles!Food lockers are provided in all campsites and measure 35 inches deep x 43 inches wide x 28 inches high.Dispose of garbage immediately in bear-proof dumpsters or in your locker. Do NOT hang garbage bags in your site!
- No electric, water, or sewer hookups are available at this facility, however, a dump station is located in Yosemite Valley, as are showers.
- Resale or auction of advance reservations is prohibited.
- There is no electricity and therefore, no lights in this campground. Bring a light source!

- Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
