About Crane Flat Campground

Crane Flat Campground is closed for the winter.Please be mindful of young plants and shrubs by keeping all wheels on parking pads and camping equipment within established campsites.Crane Flat Campground is located in breathtaking Yosemite National Park in Central California's rugged Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. The site is conveniently located 17 miles from Yosemite Valley at an elevation of 6,200 feet. Within Yosemite, visitors can gaze upon waterfalls, sheer granite cliffs, deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, vast wilderness areas and so much more.Reservation Tips! Campsites in Yosemite are extremely popular and typically sell out in minutes. Login to your account or create a new account before the 7:00 a.m. (PST) release time. You may only add reservations to your cart and proceed with your reservation if you are logged into your account. Don’t get this spot is horrible 😞 I’m so sad was my first time there the campground was good but that space wasn’t is going downhill and is too small only fits one tent.

The driveway is listed as steep, but for a regular vehicle, it is not steep. It would NOT be an ideal site for an RV.

The site was level and accommodated our large tent. This site was also directly down from the bath room.

We arrived late, but checking in the next morning was easy. The sites were smaller than others we typically get, but it is nice that they try to maximize the space to accommodate more families or campers.

We stayed at campsite 503 which is a double site and sufficient enough for three family total 12 people….. The campsite is good and the host was very helpful. The only improvement I would like to see is having lights in the restroom . Add some showers that is must.

Excellent campground: clean, great sites, no mosquitos, and wonderful scenery. There's a bit of road noise on the first 2-3 loops, but if you go back far enough, you likely will not hear the noise. Also, there was no wind the whole time we were there, so the smoke from everyone's campfires was thick in the air and clung to the valley. We saw lots of deer, day and night, walking through the meadows and even browsing for food during the day while people were out. This particular site is roomy and has great views of the meadow.

Policies & Rules

General

  • You are responsible for reading the site alerts and booking a site that will accommodate your equipment. The campground has had a complete overhaul and every site has changed.
  • If arriving one or more days late, call (209) 379-2123; your reservation will be cancelled if we do not hear from you within 24 hours of your arrival date.
  • Bring proof of your reservation (screen shot or paper version). There is no internet access, cell service or public phone at Crane Flat.You must sign in at the entrance of the campground or you will be considered a no show and your reservation cancelled.Make your site look occupied--leave a chair or other equipment so we know you've arrived.
  • Bears and wildlife live here! Food, scented items and toiletries must be stored 24 hours/day. Absolutely NO food stored in vehicles!Food lockers are provided in all campsites and measure 35 inches deep x 43 inches wide x 28 inches high.Dispose of garbage immediately in bear-proof dumpsters or in your locker. Do NOT hang garbage bags in your site!
  • No electric, water, or sewer hookups are available at this facility, however, a dump station is located in Yosemite Valley, as are showers.
  • Resale or auction of advance reservations is prohibited.
  • There is no electricity and therefore, no lights in this campground. Bring a light source!
  • For additional park information, call (209)372-0200 or visit www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit 
  • Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
  • Help Yosemite be a Zero Landfill park! Leave excess packaging at home. Use refillable water & propane bottles, food containers and travel mugs. Place all of your recyclable waste in designated recycling containers. For more information go to: https://www.nps.gov/yose/getinvolved/zlf.htm
