Crane Flat Campground is closed for the winter.Please be mindful of young plants and shrubs by keeping all wheels on parking pads and camping equipment within established campsites.Crane Flat Campground is located in breathtaking Yosemite National Park in Central California's rugged Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. The site is conveniently located 17 miles from Yosemite Valley at an elevation of 6,200 feet. Within Yosemite, visitors can gaze upon waterfalls, sheer granite cliffs, deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, vast wilderness areas and so much more.Reservation Tips! Campsites in Yosemite are extremely popular and typically sell out in minutes. Login to your account or create a new account before the 7:00 a.m. (PST) release time. You may only add reservations to your cart and proceed with your reservation if you are logged into your account. Bluetooth music speakers have become a big problem at campgrounds. Parks need to ban these speakers at all hours in campgrounds and also on trails.

The campground was properly separated from other campgrounds, the promised amenities were there and clean. The camp host made it clear enough to navigate and understand the rules. I would definitely go for another camping trip here.

Crane Flat campground was very well maintained. The firepit had grates to grill on. Bathroom was clean. Site 403 has a few stair steps from the parking spot to the campsite.
The location was great, and it was about a 30 minute drive to the valley (Curry Village / Yosemite Valley Welcome Center). It's also right at the beginning of Tioga Rd so it was easy to go towards Tuolumne Meadows.

We stayed for three nights. The campsite is clean. The surroundings are pretty. However, the parking rule is strange and not very convenient. The site posted having drinking water but the only source is at the restroom. No campsite running water faucets available.
On the whole it is a pleasant stay.

We had a great time. One campsite had a noisy neighbor who set up their tent in our side. We ended up leave early because of the neighbor. Otherwise we had a great time.

This campground is away from many of the main attractions in Yosemite, but was nice nonetheless. There is a poorly maintained trail that runs through the campground where some in our group saw bears. The campsite was down steps and only had a small area for a tent. But, it the campsite was a fun location for the kids to play. Other reviews made it seem like this campsite backed up to a meadow, but it does not.

General

  • You are responsible for reading the site alerts and booking a site that will accommodate your equipment. The campground has had a complete overhaul and every site has changed.
  • If arriving one or more days late, call (209) 379-2123; your reservation will be cancelled if we do not hear from you within 24 hours of your arrival date.
  • Bring proof of your reservation (screen shot or paper version). There is no internet access, cell service or public phone at Crane Flat.You must sign in at the entrance of the campground or you will be considered a no show and your reservation cancelled.Make your site look occupied--leave a chair or other equipment so we know you've arrived.
  • Bears and wildlife live here! Food, scented items and toiletries must be stored 24 hours/day. Absolutely NO food stored in vehicles!Food lockers are provided in all campsites and measure 35 inches deep x 43 inches wide x 28 inches high.Dispose of garbage immediately in bear-proof dumpsters or in your locker. Do NOT hang garbage bags in your site!
  • No electric, water, or sewer hookups are available at this facility, however, a dump station is located in Yosemite Valley, as are showers.
  • Resale or auction of advance reservations is prohibited.
  • There is no electricity and therefore, no lights in this campground. Bring a light source!
  • For additional park information, call (209)372-0200 or visit www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit 
  • Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
  • Help Yosemite be a Zero Landfill park! Leave excess packaging at home. Use refillable water & propane bottles, food containers and travel mugs. Place all of your recyclable waste in designated recycling containers. For more information go to: https://www.nps.gov/yose/getinvolved/zlf.htm
