About Crane Flat Campground

Crane Flat Campground is closed for the winter.Please be mindful of young plants and shrubs by keeping all wheels on parking pads and camping equipment within established campsites.Crane Flat Campground is located in breathtaking Yosemite National Park in Central California's rugged Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. The site is conveniently located 17 miles from Yosemite Valley at an elevation of 6,200 feet. Within Yosemite, visitors can gaze upon waterfalls, sheer granite cliffs, deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, vast wilderness areas and so much more.Reservation Tips! Campsites in Yosemite are extremely popular and typically sell out in minutes. Login to your account or create a new account before the 7:00 a.m. (PST) release time. You may only add reservations to your cart and proceed with your reservation if you are logged into your account. I really enjoyed staying at this camp site. It was very easy to find, the check in process was very self explanatory for the after hours and I felt safe staying there. Would highly recommend!

Out climbing in the Valley all day, and came back to my campsite after first night only to have another family there. Did everything correctly, signed in the night before with reservation number and left a bag of charcoal in sight so they would know someone was there. Sounds like the normal camp host was gone for a couple days, and the new staff went rouge and for some unknown reason cancelled my reservation. When spoke with the OG camp host she was very apologetic and able to get me another site for the next 2 days. She was awesome and very helpfull. Hate to give a bad review, but it was pretty inconvenient to have to share a site that night. Really awkward.

Great camp site with a small meadow on the side. We enjoyed the surroundings and had a family of deer munching on the grass next to us. Beautiful location inside the park. Easy to get in and out.

General

  • You are responsible for reading the site alerts and booking a site that will accommodate your equipment. The campground has had a complete overhaul and every site has changed.
  • If arriving one or more days late, call (209) 379-2123; your reservation will be cancelled if we do not hear from you within 24 hours of your arrival date.
  • Bring proof of your reservation (screen shot or paper version). There is no internet access, cell service or public phone at Crane Flat.You must sign in at the entrance of the campground or you will be considered a no show and your reservation cancelled.Make your site look occupied--leave a chair or other equipment so we know you've arrived.
  • Bears and wildlife live here! Food, scented items and toiletries must be stored 24 hours/day. Absolutely NO food stored in vehicles!Food lockers are provided in all campsites and measure 35 inches deep x 43 inches wide x 28 inches high.Dispose of garbage immediately in bear-proof dumpsters or in your locker. Do NOT hang garbage bags in your site!
  • No electric, water, or sewer hookups are available at this facility, however, a dump station is located in Yosemite Valley, as are showers.
  • Resale or auction of advance reservations is prohibited.
  • There is no electricity and therefore, no lights in this campground. Bring a light source!
  • For additional park information, call (209)372-0200 or visit www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit 
  • Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
  • Help Yosemite be a Zero Landfill park! Leave excess packaging at home. Use refillable water & propane bottles, food containers and travel mugs. Place all of your recyclable waste in designated recycling containers. For more information go to: https://www.nps.gov/yose/getinvolved/zlf.htm
