This campground is very convenient for people going up hwy 120. It is quiet and tucked away, and yet still has ranger programs. And you can still beautiful sky at night, unlike the valley. Drawback is that there is no electricity and barely any cell signal. Lastly, if you forgot firewood or some snacks, try the gas station which is only 2 mins away before you head down into the valley, which will take at least 1 hour round trip.

Site 313 was awesome very spacious and in a well shaded area parking was flat which was great for our pop up camper on our car. Overall location was nice and only 35 min away from main tourist spots in Yosemite. Bathrooms could use work they were only clean for a few hours in the morning and into the afternoon and evening there was toilet paper everywhere and flooded toilets .We had this campsite as a back up and fortunately we did we had to move campsites due to no shade and lack of space for our group of 6

Site 525 is not equipped for groups of 6 my group was very cramped and had very little room to have a decent set up . I would say 4 can comfortably fit at this site , there is no shade expect direct sunlight beaming down during the day . Fortunately we had a 2nd campsite booked and had to take all of our belongings and up and move to the other campsite that was equipped with more space and shaded . I definitely wish this campground would have a 2 day minimum booking rule in place it’s extremely inconvenient not being able to stay in one campsite because a 1 night reservation decided to book your campsite the night before . Overall location was nice only 35 min away from Yosemite touristy spots. Bathrooms could have been kept up more and staff could have been a little friendlier

I love the Ranger programs and the eclectic stories of the park! Learning about black bears and their biology and history with humans amazing!

The campground was great and the rangers were wonderful. However, the campsite description was wrong and could not accommodate two vehicles and the picnic table was broken. The toilet in the men’s restroom near site 421 was broken.

Great spot, not too far from the Valley, unique campground. Potable water and flush toilets, active bears nearby. Would love to come back.

Crane Flat is the perfect place to take a night after a backpacking trip to rest and regroup for the long drive home. The camp is quiter than the campgrounds in the valley. Sites are a bit more spacious. Do bring a headlamp, as there’s no electricity and hence no lights in the bathroom.

Take Highway 41 north from Fresno, Highway 140 east from Merced, or Highway 120 east from Manteca into Yosemite National Park. Crane Flat Campground is located 8 miles from the Big Oak Flat Entrance Station (Hwy 120 from the west), and is 17 miles (30 minutes) northwest of Yosemite Valley.
Crane Flat Campground is accessible via Highway 120, which is 8 miles from the Big Oak Flat Entrance Station to Yosemite National Park.

Policies & Rules
General
- You are responsible for reading the site alerts and booking a site that will accommodate your equipment. The campground has had a complete overhaul and every site has changed.
- If arriving one or more days late, call (209) 379-2123; your reservation will be cancelled if we do not hear from you within 24 hours of your arrival date.
- Bring proof of your reservation (screen shot or paper version). There is no internet access, cell service or public phone at Crane Flat.You must sign in at the entrance of the campground or you will be considered a no show and your reservation cancelled.Make your site look occupied--leave a chair or other equipment so we know you've arrived.
- Bears and wildlife live here! Food, scented items and toiletries must be stored 24 hours/day. Absolutely NO food stored in vehicles!Food lockers are provided in all campsites and measure 35 inches deep x 43 inches wide x 28 inches high.Dispose of garbage immediately in bear-proof dumpsters or in your locker. Do NOT hang garbage bags in your site!
- No electric, water, or sewer hookups are available at this facility, however, a dump station is located in Yosemite Valley, as are showers.
- Resale or auction of advance reservations is prohibited.
- There is no electricity and therefore, no lights in this campground. Bring a light source!

- Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
