The spot was very small -- not ideal for many people, although it was labeled as "Double". In addition, it was close to the restroom, so kinda noisy.

Crane flat is lovely. Everything you need and the higher elevation makes for a much more comfortable sleep.

checking in was easy for two car group. spot was big enough for three tents. there’s no electricity, so no lights in the bathrooms, but that was no issue since i had a headlamp. food locker more than large enough for a cooler and several other bags of items. if you have two cars, be wary that the parking spots just barely let us fit a large pick up truck and a sedan inches away from each other.
great spot. really the only downside was the campsite right next to us. they showed up at 12am making so much noise and let their car alarms go off for a full minute. had to tell them multiple times to be quiet and they kept walking through our site by our tents in the middle of the night. very annoying. made us wish there were some sort of boundary between the sites.
the site is about 35 minutes away from the welcome center. we only stayed one night, but i can see that drive being a little annoying if you’re there multiple days as you’ll need to find parking when you get there AKA you need to leave early for parking. also, the gas station next to the site closes at like 5pm, so make sure you get everything you need before then.

Great campsites. Can get smokey. campers should limit their fires and ensure they are burning clean dry wood purchased in park of collected on site. Smoke is hazardous to you health and every effort should be made to limit it.

Crane Flat Campground was a wonderful place to stay. The sites are open, roomy, and surrounded by beautiful greenery that makes the whole area feel peaceful. Our campsite was also very close to the bathrooms, which were clean and easy to access. Another huge plus is that the 24‑hour gas station is just minutes away, which made it super convenient for late‑night needs or early‑morning drives. Overall, we loved how comfortable, quiet, and scenic the campground felt. We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights

Take Highway 41 north from Fresno, Highway 140 east from Merced, or Highway 120 east from Manteca into Yosemite National Park. Crane Flat Campground is located 8 miles from the Big Oak Flat Entrance Station (Hwy 120 from the west), and is 17 miles (30 minutes) northwest of Yosemite Valley.
Crane Flat Campground is accessible via Highway 120, which is 8 miles from the Big Oak Flat Entrance Station to Yosemite National Park.

Policies & Rules
General
- You are responsible for reading the site alerts and booking a site that will accommodate your equipment. The campground has had a complete overhaul and every site has changed.
- If arriving one or more days late, call (209) 379-2123; your reservation will be cancelled if we do not hear from you within 24 hours of your arrival date.
- Bring proof of your reservation (screen shot or paper version). There is no internet access, cell service or public phone at Crane Flat.You must sign in at the entrance of the campground or you will be considered a no show and your reservation cancelled.Make your site look occupied--leave a chair or other equipment so we know you've arrived.
- Bears and wildlife live here! Food, scented items and toiletries must be stored 24 hours/day. Absolutely NO food stored in vehicles!Food lockers are provided in all campsites and measure 35 inches deep x 43 inches wide x 28 inches high.Dispose of garbage immediately in bear-proof dumpsters or in your locker. Do NOT hang garbage bags in your site!
- No electric, water, or sewer hookups are available at this facility, however, a dump station is located in Yosemite Valley, as are showers.
- Resale or auction of advance reservations is prohibited.
- There is no electricity and therefore, no lights in this campground. Bring a light source!

- Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
