This campground is nice. It is also in a very heavily bear centric area so the rangers are very uptight about bear lockers, food being left out...etc which is fair. What I did not appreciate is how rude some of the younger rangers were. They had an attitude that I should know everything about bears, camping...etc. There were two older rangers that were fantastic and extremely nice. I wish that would rub off on the younger rangers as we are all there to relax and enjoy the woods.
The campground stinks for Water and dish washing as both are far from most sites and the spots around the campground and really terrible for Trailers/Vans...etc Super tight and very sloped - comical how bad it is and during the renovation they neglected to level out the pads! This campground is the closest to the north entrance so that was nice. Would I stay here again? Only if I had to.

The location was great and really enjoyed the people and camp host. Booking through Reservation.gov was not easy, but happy we got a spot.

Our neighbors were up drinking and telling loud stories until I yelled at them at midnight. In then took them another 45 minutes to stop re arranging their tents…. We were getting up at 4 AM to go hiking! Also no TP in the men’s bathroom Monday morning. Camp host where!?!?

Nice clean site and facilities. Decent spacing between adjacent sites. Limited parking at this site (529), plenty of room for my full sized truck but not much more. The staff at the park were very friendly and helpful.

Checkout the evening programs of they are offered during your stay. We learned about bears and the night sky! The park rangers were helpful and the giant sequoia grove nearby is a great warmup walk for other hikes in the park. Less hot than lower elevation campgrounds, which was important in mid June this year. Site 504 only accommodates two small compact cars, nothing bigger.

Very nice campground-well maintained, scenic, gas station and store very close. The evening ranger programs in the amphitheater were great! Lots of wildlife ❤️

Beautiful campground among the high country forest. Sites are significantly larger and less crowded than Pines campgrounds in the valley.

Stayed at site 113, and it was so amazing. We checked in with the ranger, and he was so nice and helpful. He offered activities and had answers for every question. The camp is very spacious and private. We only had neighbors below us, and you can’t see the other campers on the right. Deer come and visit your site, and the restrooms had running water. Camp was only 30min away from Curry Village. One of the best sites I’ve stayed at recently.

Take Highway 41 north from Fresno, Highway 140 east from Merced, or Highway 120 east from Manteca into Yosemite National Park. Crane Flat Campground is located 8 miles from the Big Oak Flat Entrance Station (Hwy 120 from the west), and is 17 miles (30 minutes) northwest of Yosemite Valley.
Crane Flat Campground is accessible via Highway 120, which is 8 miles from the Big Oak Flat Entrance Station to Yosemite National Park.

Policies & Rules
General
- You are responsible for reading the site alerts and booking a site that will accommodate your equipment. The campground has had a complete overhaul and every site has changed.
- If arriving one or more days late, call (209) 379-2123; your reservation will be cancelled if we do not hear from you within 24 hours of your arrival date.
- Bring proof of your reservation (screen shot or paper version). There is no internet access, cell service or public phone at Crane Flat.You must sign in at the entrance of the campground or you will be considered a no show and your reservation cancelled.Make your site look occupied--leave a chair or other equipment so we know you've arrived.
- Bears and wildlife live here! Food, scented items and toiletries must be stored 24 hours/day. Absolutely NO food stored in vehicles!Food lockers are provided in all campsites and measure 35 inches deep x 43 inches wide x 28 inches high.Dispose of garbage immediately in bear-proof dumpsters or in your locker. Do NOT hang garbage bags in your site!
- No electric, water, or sewer hookups are available at this facility, however, a dump station is located in Yosemite Valley, as are showers.
- Resale or auction of advance reservations is prohibited.
- There is no electricity and therefore, no lights in this campground. Bring a light source!

- Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
