Very good camp site, great NP workers with excellent knowledge. Be aware camp sites are close to each other. Area is kept very clean and bathrooms are also cleaned on a regular basis. Highly recommend this campground if you are not able to reserve a location in Yosemite Valley.

Great campground. Convenient to both Tioga Rd. and the valley. The only downside is that campfire smoke from everyone else's campfires is pretty bad.... Don't expect fresh air!

The campsite is nice and peaceful, a lot less developed than down in the valley. The only negative is that the only showers are in the curry village which is 30min drive one way and charged us 5$pp

Beautiful campground. It was great to comeback to a nice quiet campground after how busy the valley is. Short drive to Tuolumne Grove where we hiked to the tree tunnel. Bathroom were clean. Woke up to a buck in our campsite on our last morning. Great area for star gazing. Campground is a little hilly which made it difficult for the kids to ride around our loop. Bring bug spray! No cell service for the most part. I’d sometimes get a bar here and there but it wasn’t consistent. No running water at your site but there is water by the bathrooms. Gas station near by with most of the essentials their hours are 8am to 5pm. Some cell service at the gas station, better service at Tuolumne Grove. There was a Ranger led stargazing and fire tower tour that was really great!

Crane Flat campground is mostly terraced into the side of a hill, so campsites are above each other as you move up the hill. This 529 site is halfway up the hill. There's a narrow parking space along the road. From there, lug your stuff up 12 steps to a flat space that includes your own bear box (Nice and large), picnic table, fire pit and space for 1 tent (mine was a 4-person). Bathrooms with flush toilets and potable water are about 24 steps down from this tent spot. Deer visited me every day and owls hooted at night. I had good Verizon service here. The campground was relatively quiet, save for some barking dogs and one domestic disturbance. The campground is centrally located in the park and it was 1.5 hours to get to each of the main 3 sections. Crane gas and store are right around the corner and 2 short hikes into sequoia groves are nearby.

I booked this as a group spot, we had multiple parties. When we arrived, it was apparent this was mis-labeled as a group spot. There was clearly room for only one car in the driveway. The other cars had to figure out where else to park for the night. It was a decent (one-car) camping spot though, just mis-labeled.

Take Highway 41 north from Fresno, Highway 140 east from Merced, or Highway 120 east from Manteca into Yosemite National Park. Crane Flat Campground is located 8 miles from the Big Oak Flat Entrance Station (Hwy 120 from the west), and is 17 miles (30 minutes) northwest of Yosemite Valley.
Crane Flat Campground is accessible via Highway 120, which is 8 miles from the Big Oak Flat Entrance Station to Yosemite National Park.

General
- You are responsible for reading the site alerts and booking a site that will accommodate your equipment. The campground has had a complete overhaul and every site has changed.
- If arriving one or more days late, call (209) 379-2123; your reservation will be cancelled if we do not hear from you within 24 hours of your arrival date.
- Bring proof of your reservation (screen shot or paper version). There is no internet access, cell service or public phone at Crane Flat.You must sign in at the entrance of the campground or you will be considered a no show and your reservation cancelled.Make your site look occupied--leave a chair or other equipment so we know you've arrived.
- Bears and wildlife live here! Food, scented items and toiletries must be stored 24 hours/day. Absolutely NO food stored in vehicles!Food lockers are provided in all campsites and measure 35 inches deep x 43 inches wide x 28 inches high.Dispose of garbage immediately in bear-proof dumpsters or in your locker. Do NOT hang garbage bags in your site!
- No electric, water, or sewer hookups are available at this facility, however, a dump station is located in Yosemite Valley, as are showers.
- Resale or auction of advance reservations is prohibited.
- There is no electricity and therefore, no lights in this campground. Bring a light source!

- Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
