Had a great experience at Crane Flat Campground. Our site was large, though closer to the adjacent site than expected based on the map. Despite this, we had plenty of space to relax. The bathrooms were well kept, and the staff was welcoming. The only thing to note is that the car pad is slanted at a decline, which made car camping a little uncomfortable due to the angle. We are looking forward to returning in the future!

I was initially concerned that Crane Flat was such a large campground, that it would not feel natural. I was greatly surprised at how beautifully wooded the campground was in reality! For those of us with dogs can’t hike on designated trails and don’t want to drive all the way back to the valley for a long walk with the pups, Crane Flat offers a super nice wooded alternative for long strolls even inside the campground. Reviews said the bathrooms were recently renovated which I found to be in very good working order and clean. The only drawback is the location of the drinking/potable water faucet is outside the bathroom and too far for my 25 ft hose to reach my camper water tank. So you end up having to haul 50 lb of water on a gravelly slope up/down to the road where your van is parked. This applies to restocking drinking water at your camp as well if you want to collect more than a liter at a time. The location is near the Crane Flat Chevron station, which, thankfully, carried diesel. Since I was driving from Yosemite to Mammoth, it worked out perfectly for me. Others may find it too far to commute back to the scenic areas in the valley. I had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend this campground. Oh, one more tiny detail, make sure you navigate to Crane Flat campground, not just Crane Flat as there is a road by that name nearby with private residences and a dead end.

This is the second time we’ve camped in this spot and we love both Crane Flat and this specific site! The campsite is conveniently close to a clean restroom and has a great mix of sun and shade throughout the day. Campsite is flat and plenty big for us. This is a wonderful campground to stay at if you’re looking to avoid the crowds and the noise on the valley floor.

Nice camping, just a bit close to the neighbors and just one spot to put the tent in a flat surface. Close to the restrooms/water and about half an hour away from the Valley.

Beautiful campsite, and not too far of a drive to the valley. The rating has nothing to do with the site itself, very nice campground. Be careful camping on Friday or Saturday nights, depending on the crowd it can get very loud and rowdy. Camp hosts try to maintain the noise but people can be very disrespectful, and there were no rangers after a certain time to support hosts.

Info on campsite was not clear on what type and size would fit. We did not. And unfortunately there were absolutely not other sites available to accommodate us in the park. That said park hosts were very helpful and Diamond O campground was wonderful!

Excellent campground. Tight sites for 30 ft motorhome with towing. Have to park in overflow parking but super cool sites.
