When I arrived at campsite 53, there was a downed tree in the spot. The weather was bad, and I was not sure what to do, so I signed the check in board and went to Curry Village to decide if I would stay. When I returned, I told the hosts that I had checked in but was leaving. Many spots in Lower Pines were flooded due to a downpour. The hosts had a note to move me to spot 53 in Upper Pines. I checked it out, and it was a lovely spot. I ended up staying in that spot and I am very glad I did. The weather cleared, the crowds had left, and I had an amazing hike in the park. If the hosts hadn't been so nice and accommodating, I would have missed the experience. I was grateful that I missed the tree falling incident!

This was a great campsite next to the Merced River, close to the bathrooms and close to the trail over to Curry Village. We spent seven days there in the valley and it was a perfect central location.

A beautiful place to camp. Watch for the climbers at night. You can see their headlamps
