About Lower Pines Campground

Lower Pines is closed for the winter season.Lower Pines campsites are available to reserve up to five months in advance on the 15th of each month at 7:00 a.m. PST. For example, on January 15, arrival dates for the period May 15 to June 14 become available to reserve, and therefore, the full arrival date window would be from the campground open date to June 14. Reservation tips! Campsites in Yosemite are extremely popular and typically sell out in minutes. Login to your account or create a new account before the 7:00 a.m. PST release time. You may only add reservations to your cart and proceed with your reservation if you are logged into your account. The recreation.gov call center does NOT have access to additional sites or additional information beyond what is published on recreation.gov.Lower Pines Campground is located in breathtaking Yosemite National Park in Central California's rugged Sierra Nevada Mountain Range at an elevation of 4,000 feet. The site is situated in the heart of Yosemite Valley, an awe-inspiring landscape containing many of the famous features for which Yosemite National Park is known. Within Yosemite, visitors gaze upon waterfalls, sheer granite cliffs, deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, vast wilderness areas and much more. When I arrived at campsite 53, there was a downed tree in the spot. The weather was bad, and I was not sure what to do, so I signed the check in board and went to Curry Village to decide if I would stay. When I returned, I told the hosts that I had checked in but was leaving. Many spots in Lower Pines were flooded due to a downpour. The hosts had a note to move me to spot 53 in Upper Pines. I checked it out, and it was a lovely spot. I ended up staying in that spot and I am very glad I did. The weather cleared, the crowds had left, and I had an amazing hike in the park. If the hosts hadn't been so nice and accommodating, I would have missed the experience. I was grateful that I missed the tree falling incident!

This was a great campsite next to the Merced River, close to the bathrooms and close to the trail over to Curry Village. We spent seven days there in the valley and it was a perfect central location.
