Lovely campground in the middle of beautiful Yosemite! If I ever come back to this NP, and I really hope I do, I will chose Lower Pines again.

Why are public camping sites being used for non-profit employees and volunteers? Shouldn't public campgrounds built and maintained by public funds be available to the public?

Friends joined me in my campsite to meet up for hikes and dinners. It's a great location to begin your daily adventures We had a perfect time. Taylor in the kiosk was very helpful. He even help guide me backing into my campsite in my little old VW van.

We have stayed in lower pines #53 before. When we arrived, it was raining hard and the space was flooded 4" deep. The road to the site drains through the site so if it's raining, the parking area will be wet. We removed the pine needle/dirt dams on the right side of the site and most of the water drained. We were in a 23' motorhome, parked the the left side of the site and were able to step onto dry dirt. Two campers slept in tents and there were two level high spots so tents work even in the rain/snow. Our week long stay included rain, snow, sun and overcast skies. Come prepared and have a great uncrowded week when others leave due to "imperfect" weather.
