Yosemite is a treasure. The campsite at lower pines is itself fairly nice, but the location makes it amazing.

Lower Pines is probably the best campground in the Yosemite Valley. The views are amazing and the facilities are clean and easily accessible. Our campsite backed into a stream and we saw and heard a bear cub across the way. We definitely enjoyed our time there and will go back.

Lower pines is a great area, the only down side wasn't specific to lower pines though. My camp site was located across from the bathroom. That meant everyone decided walking directly through my site was acceptable. That was my only gripe.

In preparation for my 3 day adventure in Yosemite which included summiting the almighty half dome, I pulled in for my first night at lower pines into a very spacious campfround and pitched my tiny tent against the backdrop of my target peak.
The view of half dome between the pines is etched into my memory forever as the sun set on what would make for an incredible night under the stars.
Nearby parking, running toilets, basins and drinking water made for a very comfortable night before heading off into elevation.
I have no faults for this place.

Beautiful campsite. Views of the rock walls, a stream nearby, a nice picnic table and fire pit, and good bear boxes. It's also close to trails! The only thing to watch out for is if you arrive late, you'll likely have squatters on your site. There were 2 groups with 4 cars. We had to wake people up to have them move their cars so we could park. We let them stay parked for the night, expecting them to leave promptly in the morning. Instead, they took their sweet time taking over the entire picnic table for breakfast time before leaving. We were nice about it all, but asked how long they'd take and made it clear that we wanted to use the table and were waiting on them. They were just plain rude, made no effort to leave promptly, and left the table dirty. So arrive as soon as check in, or put up with potential squatters, or have them kicked out by the rangers. Hopefully everyone can be decent and courteous about it.
