Ranger John who checked us in July 1st was great, as was the campground host Jack. We enjoyed some tasty cheeseburgers and fries at the Camp Curry Meadow Grill before we set up our tent at Lower Pines #17. Nice campsite with shade for the tent and close to the restrooms. Yosemite Falls had lots of water gushing down from the high cliff.
It was too bad the Visitor Center was closed and the buses were not running else our visit rating would have been 5 stars. We left the Valley on Friday and stopped at Tunnel View, then drove up to Glacier Point for the majestic views of Half Dome and the valley below. Vernal & Nevada Falls looked spectacular.
Then we stopped at the Wawona History Center and were entertained by Buckshot, the only stage coach driver park ranger in California.

This was an amazing site. It was spaced out beautifully from other campsites and had amazing trees and rock valley views. We saw a black bear in camp twice in one morning while eating breakfast.

One of the best spots in Yosemite. Nice and shady next to the river. No complaints here.

Great site. Helpful rangers. Our tent poles broke and the rangers helped us find a loaner tent to get us through the stay. Amazing location - right by the water. Great for a dip after a hike.

This was my first time in the valley. Campsites are definitely right on top of one another, but I guess you can't expect less in a park as popular as Yosemite. I was still told Lower Pines is the best of the valley campgrounds.
