Enjoyed one night camping at Lower Pines. Stayed in 31 Campsite. Flat Ground, Clean Restrooms, Silent, Walkable to Curry Village thru Meadows.
On the Merced River bank, very peaceful and relaxed.

Peaceful in the trees. Near the bridge, while in the campground, is a great public spot to get to watch Alpen Glow on Half Dome.

We had a great experience. A wonderful campfire side celebration and saw some rangers wrangling bears.

We were lucky to have perfect weather. Our Lower Pines site #39 was right on the river so we were able to launch our raft directly from our site. The rafting on the Merced River was awesome and we made 3 trips in 3 days (about two hours of blissful floating, no whitewater). The site is also an easy shuttle trip to the start of the Mist trail and the Four Mile Trail (up to Glacier Point). Lower Pines is my favorite area for it's great access to the river, the valley and Curry Village.

Campsite was nice, as we were walking distance to mirror lake, Happy Isles, and Camp Curry. My only complaint is that in the evening, all of the campfire smoke from other campers just sits in the air and makes the whole campground smokey.

We preferred the Lower Pines campground to the North Pines. We were outside loop (site 70) for Lower Pines, which was less busy/crowded than the inner loop site we had at North Pines. Site 70 does not have shade, but it does offer a great view of the sky if you use Starlink.
