North Pines Campground

My site 214 was perfect. Large tent area. Next to our motor home .Close to the bathroom . Close to the stream by the backpackers camp.

We stayed on site 402 and it had a wonderful view of Half Dome. Great tree shade and close to the river. The water level in Sept was perfect for slow rafting on tubes in the chilly water. Gorgeous weather, challenging hikes, friendly camping neighbors, all made our trip one to remember.

This is a wonderful site. Has easy access to a large open area adjacent to the Merced River bridge. Site is relatively level. Next to main entrance but we kinda liked that. Shorter distance to shuttles and Curry Village.

This site struck me as being one of the best in the campground. It backs up to the Merced River, and has a generous area to one side, since there are no neighbors on that side. I deducted a star for two reasons - the first being that I could only stay one night because this park is the Disneyland of National Parks and you’re fighting the demand of the Californian hordes. The second reason is that the bathroom building nearby was under construction, and the workers were there sawing wood at 8:00. I understand things need to get fixed some time, but this site would be one of the more affected sites until that work is completed. With a longer stay and no construction nearby, this site would be ideal for being in the Yosemite Valley.

Stayed here 1 day before and after our back country permit dates in the backpacker camp. Bugs/meat bees were constant in mid September when the sun was out. Pit toilets were pretty clean. We got water from the North Pines campground bathrooms. Both days we stayed, the campsite was not full. There’s also a loading zone a couple hundred yards away from the backpacker’s camp, to help you unload from a car while you walk your stuff to the sites.

Generators permitted to run at 7am. Very early for a peaceful time in a beautiful space. Came to Yosemite to get away from motor noise.

The other reviews are helpful, but here's a few more details. Really enjoyed the campground and Yosemite. However, the lights from the nearby bathroom are on motion timers, so expect to have the site illuminated most of the time after dark until very late evenings. Made it hard to really enjoy a camp fire, and those have to end by 10pm. Also, as mentioned, there are NO trees so lots of sun during the day and also no close trees to hang a line and tarp to block the restroom lights or block passers-through, although there weren't too many. Parking was better than expected and we backed a full size extended pickup with an 18-foot trailer in (40-feet total end-to-end), and still had room for a second pickup next to the other. Also, the direct view of Half Dome from the table was great! I would also highly recommend taking bikes to get around to trailheads, Curry Village, etc.

Campground was clean and quiet. Restrooms very clean and enjoyed our 5 nights

The location in the valley is perfect, views are stunning. Our site was close to the river which was great. The bathrooms were kept very clean and stocked with TP.
