The campground is really good, it was always shaded and a nice breeze could be felt. The bathrooms were nicely kept... Which is a lot considering other bathrooms in the national parks these days. Will definitely come back!

Very difficult to find the backpackers campground if you've not been there previously (and even if you have). And the camp host and rangers are a little obnoxious coming around shining their lights at your tent looking for proof of payment as you're trying to fall asleep. But I guess for $8 it's OK.

There were no wildfires while there thankfully, but the campfire smoke gets extremely oppressive in the valley, even though it was only allowed 5-10pm. I wish they would just completely ban campfires because this is seriously not a problem anywhere else, except the weird microclimate of the valley.

Everything else was wonderful besides the air quallity!

After all of the effort to get a reservation through the lottery system the campground was a real disappointment. There are way too many campsites for the area and no buffer between sites. The area was so beat down that there was no vegetation besides the large trees, which were nice. The most disappointing was the disgusting bathrooms. The bathrooms were filthy and except for the stalls had not been cleaned in months or years. It is so sad to see one of the greatest national parks have such a run down campground.

Right on the river. Water a little slow this time of year. (September 14th) Great rafting spot in the Spring or early summer. Can walk or bike to Curry Village for refreshments/supplies. Short walk to the Mist trail head. Can access backpacker's campground from this site. We have a couple of spots in Upper Pines that we really enjoy but North Pines on the river can't be beat. Enjoy !

Though the overall experience was very good, one “volunteer” Ranger was overzealous at best. We ended up discussing the actions of the overzealous Ranger with both the camp host and law enforcement who both agreed the particular Ranger should indeed be reported. That said, we are looking forward to our next visit.
