About Upper Pines Campground

Upper Pines campsites are available to reserve up to five months in advance on the 15th of each month at 7:00 a.m. PST. For example, on January 15, arrival dates for the period May 15 to June 14 become available to reserve, and therefore, the full arrival date window would be from January 15 to June 14.  Reservation Tips! Campsites in Yosemite are extremely popular and typically sell out in minutes. Login to your account or create a new account before the 7:00 a.m. (PST) release time. You may only add reservations to your cart and proceed with your reservation if you are logged into your account. The recreation.gov call center does NOT have access to additional sites or additional information beyond what is published on recreation.gov.  Upper Pines Campground is located in breathtaking Yosemite National Park in Central California's rugged Sierra Nevada Mountain Range at an elevation of 4 ft. The site is situated in the heart of Yosemite Valley, an awe-inspiring landscape containing many of the famous features for which Yosemite National Park is known. Camp was quiet until 1:30am when RV pulled into the nearby lit dump station and the people yelled at each other for close to half an hour.
Other than that, we enjoyed the campground.

Site #40 is very small and can accommodate 1 tent comfortably. Additional tents would have to be placed close to the bathrooms walkway. The site is immediately next to the bathrooms, which is a blessing and a curse. Flushing toilets are very loud and other campers who didn't know any better took shortcuts through our campsite. Ample parking for 2 vehicles, side by side, shallow parking depth would not accommodate an RV. The space for the primary tent is well shaded by trees.

VERY deep into Upper Pines - walking to the entrance of UP for the shuttle is a HIKE. Great location if you’re doing happy isles or half dome / mist trail, though.

It’s still a great location because it’s in Upper Pines, but a very weird layout. This whole loop seems to be offset - you park in one location but your tent site and table are off to the side. Different than the other loops in Upper Pines.

Upper pines Yosemite is absolutely amazing! Lots of people, but if you have bikes, once you get settled into camp, the experience is prestige!

Site 65 is on the inner loop and bustling with activity. It worked well for a 40 ft truck and trailer combination due to having overhang in the back. We could fit the truck right up to the tongue or park it at an angle. The one concern for us was the heavy campfire smoke that continued late into the night even though the allowed times were 5-10 pm. It's to be expected at a busy campground. Being able to stay right in the valley is amazing, and we walked to several hikes including Nevada and Vernal Falls. The water fill and dump station are convenient and there was no charge during our stay. Overall, we really enjoyed staying at a campground in the valley for a few nights!

The most perfect camping trip! Great location, the bathrooms were very clean and well kept. Beware of the very brave squirrels, they will find a way into any unsupervised food!

Family friendly campground with amazing views. Tall pine and oak with granite mountains peaking through. It gets a little loud at night, but that is expected with a populated campground like this. Camping is walking distance from the river. Make sure to use bear precautions.
