About Upper Pines Campground

Upper Pines campsites are available to reserve up to five months in advance on the 15th of each month at 7:00 a.m. PST. For example, on January 15, arrival dates for the period May 15 to June 14 become available to reserve, and therefore, the full arrival date window would be from January 15 to June 14.  Reservation Tips! Campsites in Yosemite are extremely popular and typically sell out in minutes. Login to your account or create a new account before the 7:00 a.m. (PST) release time. You may only add reservations to your cart and proceed with your reservation if you are logged into your account. The recreation.gov call center does NOT have access to additional sites or additional information beyond what is published on recreation.gov.  Upper Pines Campground is located in breathtaking Yosemite National Park in Central California's rugged Sierra Nevada Mountain Range at an elevation of 4 ft. The site is situated in the heart of Yosemite Valley, an awe-inspiring landscape containing many of the famous features for which Yosemite National Park is known. Within Yosemite, visitors can gaze upon waterfalls, sheer granite cliffs, deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, vast wilderness areas and much more.  Yosemite National Park Campground Reservation Dates  For additional park information, call (209)372-0200 or visit www.nps.gov/yose

What Guests Are Saying

Upper Pines Campground offers a fantastic location in Yosemite Valley, providing easy access to popular trails and attractions, with clean facilities and friendly staff. Many visitors appreciate the spacious and private sites, as well as the beautiful natural surroundings. However, the campground can become overcrowded during peak season, leading to noise and close quarters, and some facilities, like bathrooms, may require better maintenance.

This campsite is gorgeous, it is right around all the main trails and tourist spots. There are shuttles that go around all day long. This helps a lot because otherwise there would be lots more walking. Check-in was easy, I was a little worried when they asked me for my ID. If I have the reservation printed in hand I don't see why it would be a big deal if I don't have my I.D. Or they should at least add a secondary person who can show their I. D. In case the person on the reservation cannot provide one. The first day we checked out Vernal Falls. There are A LOT of people, but it was worth it. The second day we hiked Upper Yosemite Falls. It was strenuous, but the most beautiful view. My only problem is that we wanted to get into the lottery for half dome hike and there was no reception. I think there should be an area on site where you can register to enter the lottery.

Decent. Large bear box. One picnic table and fire ring. People before us left trash and items out after they left. Like two fires away from bathroom. Bathroom lights very bright. Can see the light from inside tent but not too bad.

Garbage and recycle at end of the row.
A lot of hikers start from this spot.

Bathrooms are okay. No soap. Bring hand sanitizer. Also squirrel burrow on back and side of bathrooms.

No big deal except there are plague signs about fleas from squirrels or rodents carrying know cases of the plague from CA health department. Sign at front ranger booths. Definitely weird.

Besides that a peaceful spot in the valley.

It was too smokey in the evening. Can campfires be reduced? Maybe you can only burn every other night, so only half the campfires are going each night. Maybe campfires must be put out by 9?

Best campground in the valley! Even the middle sites have plenty of space and privacy.

Bathroom facilities were not kept up to standard. It's very sad that our administration doesn't care about our natural spaces. and prefer to rob the park money for white house beautification projects. Additionally, the system that used to regulate the crowds was not in use which meant that the trails were packed to the point of it being dangerous. Time to vote out all the GOP.
