About Upper Pines Campground

Upper Pines campsites are available to reserve up to five months in advance on the 15th of each month at 7:00 a.m. PST. For example, on January 15, arrival dates for the period May 15 to June 14 become available to reserve, and therefore, the full arrival date window would be from January 15 to June 14.  Reservation Tips! Campsites in Yosemite are extremely popular and typically sell out in minutes. Login to your account or create a new account before the 7:00 a.m. (PST) release time. You may only add reservations to your cart and proceed with your reservation if you are logged into your account. The recreation.gov call center does NOT have access to additional sites or additional information beyond what is published on recreation.gov.  Upper Pines Campground is located in breathtaking Yosemite National Park in Central California's rugged Sierra Nevada Mountain Range at an elevation of 4,000 feet. The site is situated in the heart of Yosemite Valley, an awe-inspiring landscape containing many of the famous features for which Yosemite National Park is known. I have camped here many time before and the campground has not changed. Most of Yosemite is so over crowded in Spring Summer and Fall that it is difficult to find any peace and quiet. Fortunately, for those who are hardy enough to camp out, there is peace and quiet in Upper Pines. I saw a maintenance worker at the rest rooms each morning and the facilities were clean and the plumbing worked well. Pretty close to the shuttle bus stop. Easy walk to Happy Isles, Mist Trail and Mirror Lake trail. On this trip in October there was no sun in campsites until after 9:30 am. Temperatures overnight near freezing - bundle up!

Didn’t catch the name married couple hosts but they were great. Very friendly and informative. Campgrounds very clean. Maintenance team came by and repaired the latch on the bear box. They had to drill out the rivets and left all the metal shavings in the box and on the ground. We had to clean up behind him. Besides that it was all good.

This campground is located right at the heart of so many hikes and points of interest. They made it all very easy. Plenty of bathroom facilities all located close to the campsites. The rangers were all so friendly and helpful!

What an amazing experience down in Yosemite Valley! The campground sites are so spacious that we didn't feel on top of anyone else despite the large number of visitors. The bathrooms had running water and were regularly cleaned (although there was no soap or hand sanitizer provided in the one closest to us, so bring your own just in case.) And huge trees providing perfect hammock spots! If you're staying in a tent, I highly recommend earplugs + maybe an eyemask since we did have one neighbor leave early in the morning and the truck motor noise and headlights woke us up.

Gate check in staff was wonderful, campground patrons followed quiet hours, overall wonderful experience! Winter storm hit on our second day and we left early. We received a refund for our second night which was unexpected!

You must check-in at the campground kiosk upon arrival. After-hours arrivals must sign-in and return to the kiosk to complete check-in the following morning or your reservation may be cancelled.

Bears and other wildlife live here! Food and toiletries must be properly stored 24 hours/day.  Food storage lockers are provided in all campsites (35 inches deep x 43 inches wide x 28 inches high). Absolutely no food stored in vehicles. Dispose of garbage immediately in bear-proof dumpsters.

There are no electric, water or sewer hook-ups available at individual campsites. A free dump station is located on-site along with potable water.
