About Upper Pines Campground

Upper Pines campsites are available to reserve up to five months in advance on the 15th of each month at 7:00 a.m. PST. For example, on January 15, arrival dates for the period May 15 to June 14 become available to reserve, and therefore, the full arrival date window would be from January 15 to June 14.  Reservation Tips! Campsites in Yosemite are extremely popular and typically sell out in minutes. Login to your account or create a new account before the 7:00 a.m. (PST) release time. You may only add reservations to your cart and proceed with your reservation if you are logged into your account. The recreation.gov call center does NOT have access to additional sites or additional information beyond what is published on recreation.gov.  Upper Pines Campground is located in breathtaking Yosemite National Park in Central California's rugged Sierra Nevada Mountain Range at an elevation of 4 ft. The site is situated in the heart of Yosemite Valley, an awe-inspiring landscape containing many of the famous features for which Yosemite National Park is known. I was able to book the site from someone else counseling on the same day.
I think that is important to keep the camping office open for such last minute bookings

Bad campsite. This and the adjoing campsites need to be realigned. Neighbors had 2 huge tents, large set-up and ptich their tent right next to mine. Someone snored.

Check in was a breeze.
Bathrooms clean.

Wonderful!! The staff was awesome. We had someone poaching our campsite, and the ranger promptly moved their gear out of the site. My only complaint: The air at night from campfires is really bad. We slept in the car and ran the air filter for a while to clean the smoky air out. But if you have asthma or lung challenges, camping here would be very challenging. - J

Love staying anywhere in the valley (when we can get a spot!). A little longer walk to Curry Village for pizza than Lower Pines, but worth it all the same!

Upper Pines is a great location for catching many of the main trails in Yosemite. The rangers were very professional and nice. I will stay there again.

The place itself was amazing and the nature was absolutely incredible. Yosemite truly feels special.

When we arrived, unfortunately another group had taken our campsite. I tried to find them and ask them to move, but nobody was there and it became clear that solving the situation could take a very long time.

Thankfully, one of the staff members working at the entrance station/help booth (unfortunately I forgot his name) stepped in to help us. We were never able to find the original group, but he found another campsite nearby for me and my group — and honestly, it ended up being even better.

Big thanks to him, the campground staff, and everyone who takes care of Yosemite. We really appreciated the help and had a great experience overall.

As always, we love Upper Pines campground. This spot in particular was spectacular - flat ground for multiple tents, close enough to a bathroom but not right on top of it, and a great view due to a break in the trees. Would love to stay in this spot again sometime.

Loved our stay here. Everyone was respectful of quiet time. We did not see bears but the bear boxes were huge. We were able to fit a 27 liter tote box, 2 coolers and other bags. Not allowed to use the fire pit before 5pm. There were propane tank disposal bins which was a huge plus. We rode our bikes from the campsite to Curry village and beyond, it was an awesome experience!
