It’s a lovely campground with wonderful spaces. The only reason I didn’t give it a five is because the bathrooms don’t light up when you walk in so you’re in complete darkness early in the morning or after sunset. It was scary with just having a flashlight walking in.

We enjoyed our time camping at upper pines. Very glad to see the rest rooms serviced during the shutdown.
It would be better if three loops were kept open instead of two like it used to be. There is SO much demand for a camp site now that it I’d VERY difficult to get a few nights in a row.

The experience itself was great but the only issue was that someone was camping at our campsite who wasn’t supposed to be there. We parked and left for our hike and then got an almost $300 ticket for being in an unauthorized spot. That was the spot we paid for I had the reservation and everything, but the campground office was closed every time we checked and we couldn’t get it taken e care of before leaving. We’ve called a few times and left a message but no one has responded. Moral of the story is to just be careful and understand that if you run into any issues you’ll have trouble bringing it up due to staffing shortages.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Upper Pines campground. Plenty of space, fairly level without crowding. It was good to see a ranger manning the campground kiosk.

Upper Pines is always a great place to camp if you are lucky enough to get a spot! Nice pathways and shuttles to access the valley. Spot 39 is a great flat spot with trees at the back.

We were very lucky to have such a good experience at this campground even during the shutdown. It was beautiful and all the amenities were well maintained. Thank you NPS!

This is a nice campground. Near restroom and trail. Walking for 5-10 minutes to the deck (pizza) and mini grocery/souvenir shop. The restroom is clean and enough toilet papers. We enjoyed our stay. The only regret we have is we only stay here for a night.
