What Guests Are Saying
Black Rock Equestrian Campground is a fantastic destination for equestrians, offering ample space for camping and riding, with at least 8-10 convenient corrals available on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground features well-maintained trails, beautiful scenery, and a clean environment, making it a favorite for many visitors. However, some improvements are needed, such as adding a portable toilet and having more accessible water sources, as well as better access to manure disposal.

The only reason to go to the Equestrian Campground at Black Rock at Joshua Tree is for the trails. The horse camp is a big dirt lot. One water source and no corrals for the horses. There are three hitching rails in the middle. There is no shade and sometimes the park takes the best camping spots for human use. They need to really improve the amenities at this campground to attract equestrians.

Have stayed at Black Rock Equestrian Camp many times over the past 20 years. The trails are second to none for riding and we love staying here.

Please consider putting another water source for equestrian campsites at the far end. The riding is beautiful. The campground is well maintained and clean but, more water sources would make it an excellent equestrian campground.

Camping area was nice and large. We were Very disappointed that there isn’t a port-a-potty or corrals. Basically we as equestrians are paying $20 per night for a dirt parking lot with one water faucet. It’s Very disappointing once again that equestrians seem to get less amenities in our campsites while we look across the field to the hiking camp site that has all the nice facilities. No wonder it isn’t used much by horse campers. The trails are just wonderful and only because of the trails, will we be back.
