What Guests Are Saying
Black Rock Equestrian Campground is a fantastic destination for equestrians, offering ample space for camping and riding, with at least 8-10 convenient corrals available on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground features well-maintained trails, beautiful scenery, and a clean environment, making it a favorite for many visitors. However, some improvements are needed, such as adding a portable toilet and having more accessible water sources, as well as better access to manure disposal.

Grounds were clean, Nice fire rings and tables. Plenty of room to park. Would have been a FIVE STAR rating if there was a water faucet at the other end of the campground where you drive through. Very heavy carrying water all the way across the grounds three times a day.

Joshua Tree National Park is amazingly beautiful. We trailered our horses and stayed in the area of Black Rock Campground designated for equestrian camping. Both riding and hiking trail markers provide trail names and mileage. Trail maps are available at the Visitor’s Center.

Great trails to ride. Camping area is just a large, open dirt area with some hitching posts, picnic tables, fire rings and ONE water spigot for all to share. No shade to speak of and no bathrooms in the equestrian area - campers must walk up in to the regular family campground to use the bathrooms. Don't know why they wouldn't have at least one portable bathroom set up in the equestrian area. We still enjoy it, though - best riding trails in the park!

As an Equestrian, we have limited areas to camp and ride. Black Rock offers both of these and beautiful trails and scenery. While it is primitive camping it does have one water bib, we would love to see one additional water bib at the other side of the camp site and our club would be happy to donate the money to do that and even to do the work. We have called and left a message with the Superintendent at the Park, but have yet to have that one on one conversation.

Wonderful camp host, nice large place for rig & setting up horse corrals. Great trails. Some of the fire pit grates need fixing or replacing. Would be great if they could put in permanent horse pens in the future.
