Lakeview Gunnison

Good views of the reservoir from north facing site. Large campground with a good mix of tents and trailers. 5 minutes to reservoir access. Good camp host.

Great campground with great sites with scenic views. Convenient lake access across the road from the campground. Crested Butte is a 45 minute drive to mountain bike the ski slope or visit the downtown area for some shopping.

I have been writing letters, making calls, and sending emails to the appropriate people for years now and no one seems to care. The only response I ever got was an email back from the service responsible was "we are working on it". The POTHOLES in this campground are astounding. If you have a car and catch one you will wreck your vehicle. It's horrible pulling in to the first campground on the right just to begin with. If you go in to any of the other non electric and tent sites the potholes are EVERYWHERE. It's hard just to ride a bike through because if you aren't constantly looking down you will severly get hurt. I would think the prospect of lawsuits would be enough motivation. When pulling out of the campground and turning right on to the main road, there is a big dip/hole there also so you have to swing in to the other lane to avoid it. THEY ARE REALLY AWFUL!

Pretty and clean campground. The campground host was very nice and accommodating when we wanted to switch spots to a shadier site.

The low rating is for the noise level in the campground. The spots are close to each other and a lot of campers use generators for extended periods of time. Like hours at a time. Our neighbors brought a Traeger to cook on and didn’t start cooking dinner until 8 p.m. and ran the generator for two hours straight.

A lot of campers also waited until 9 and 10 p.m. to head out on their ATVs.

We go camping to enjoy quiet. We were supposed to stay two nights but only stayed one. By far the loudest campground we have ever stayed at.

Nice campground - hard to get reservations. Trees lining roads need to be trimmed up higher to allow taller trailers to pass under without hitting. Outhouses could use some help - extremely smelly. Campground water is brown color - not clear.

The host(s) and Forest Service staff do aa great job overseeing this camp ground. Only wish they would ban gas powered power generators or reduce their use hours significantly. The noise pollution they create ruins the reason many of us go camping - to get away and enjoy nature.

I have gone here every year for 6 or 7 years. The views are wonderful. The fishing is good even from the shore. I do have one MAJOR complaint and 2 minors. The minors are that out of the 2 spigots to fill with water in the first campground, one has an end that a lot of people can't use unless they have another attachment to add. Therefore the one you can use can get frustrating for people. Last Summer it had such low pressure that it was taking everyone at least 30 minutes to fill. That was for medium sized trailers. The second is that for some reason in the last few years, the tent pads and table pads are full of weeds that no one is taking care of. I couldn't sit at the table with shorts on. The MAJOR complaint is the roads in ALL of the campgrounds. They are a mess. There are holes you could lose a child in. It is very hard to bicycle, vehicles that are higher trucks are scraping, and trailers are very close to bottoming out. I have sent in a lot of photos of these VERY DANGEROUS holes to the proper people and I just get emails back saying they will get to when they get to it. This has been years! I cannot emphasize enough how bad these are. They are not small, they are sometimes on both sides of one ways so you can't avoid them. Someone is going to get hurt or vehicles will get and have been damaged. I'm sorry, but it is ridiculous enough at this point to stay somewhere else.
