Difficult Campground is a beautiful and well-maintained site with clean facilities and a peaceful natural setting, making it an excellent choice for camping near Aspen. Many visitors appreciated the spacious and private campsites, along with easy access to hiking and biking trails. While the lack of cell service and some issues with camp hosts were noted, the overall experience was highly positive, featuring abundant wildlife sightings and a serene atmosphere.

Great camp hosts. Bathrooms clean (for what they are). Beautiful area. Site #44 is fairly steep, so for an RV, you'll use ALL of your leveling blocks and still may not hit level.

Great campground close to Aspen and Independence Pass. Wonderful camp hosts, Rebecca and Lauren were a great help, and if we needed anything, they were always around and very friendly and professional. More camp hosts should be like them, they are the best we've come across. We will definitely be back.

Was notified 2 days before my booking that the campsite was closed to all soft sided tents but that relocation would be provided. Then 24 hrs before my trip was told no relocation was available but refunds were available upon request yet no link or resources for requesting a refund were provided.

Good campground with big spots(on exterior sites)! I have stayed multiple times throughout the years, but this summer it did feel more party than camper vibes. It was also odd that the camp hosts did not seem to comment on anyone who was leaving trash/food/cooking materials out thoughtout the day and night( at least that we could tell based on what we saw throughout our stay). Especially with the current ban in place now of no tents after a bear incident.

The site was nicely maintained and had nice separation from other sites. A trail leaving from the campsite was a nice hike.
