Well laid out campground in a nice setting. Always clean. Convenient location for getting into town or to trailheads. Only small negative is a little highway noise.

Nature was great and loved being able to have a fire. Other campers running their generators and playing loud music ruined my experience. What’s the point of going camping if you can’t just enjoy nature and let go for a a few days.

Clean campground, great location, one negative is the sound of vehicles on Independence pass all day and especially at night.

Excellent location, creek was beautiful, quiet wooded camp yet very close to crowded aspen . Host was helpful, and pleasant. Vault toilets were kept clean. Only wish the national forest and park campgrounds would install some type of basic outdoor showers!! Even if cold only!!

The campground could. It have been more picturesque, surrounded by mountains and alongside a river. But our camp site, site 21, was definitely “difficult”. It was not at all accurately depicted in the Allowable Equipment section of the web site. They claimed 54’ equipment would fit, but it was almost impossible to get our 38’ trailer into the site due to the sharp turn required and the narrow road and site created by the dense trees. Plus, our trailer bumper and hitched dragged all the way in due to the steep incline off off the road. I was so relieved we made it into the site without significant damage.

Pretty views. Nicely spaced sites. Road noise well into the night from adjacent mountain pass. For the price I’d expect flush toilets and showers. No recycling facilities.

Great campsite all of the campsites at Difficult seem very spread out and private. Very convenient to Aspen and all the area has to offer.
