Lake Isabel Cabin

This cabin was incredible especially for the price. We stayed here for 5 days and 4 nights and it was a jammed packed 5 days of hiking, snow shoeing, seeing Jim Bishop's castle, and sledding. We were out and about all five days but the only people that we ran into were Kevin, the national forest ranger, and his wife. The cabin was very warm, has hot water, a fireplace, fully stocked kitchen worth of dishes, silverware, and cookware, washer and dryer, microwave, oven, and a large garage area perfect for keeping snow covered items to thaw and dry out. We rented snow shoes at the REI in Colorado Springs and used them every day. Ranger Kevin (that works out of the office near the cabin) and Ranger Lori, from the National Forest Service office in Pueblo, gave GREAT suggestions of how to spend out time including the best places to snow shoe and where the best hot springs were and were so fun to talk to in general.

It's right across the road from San Isabel Lake, with lots of great hiking trails and you can't complain about the price. 2 things I would suggest: remember to bring your own blankets/sleeping bags. It's ideal for a small family because you can all bunk in one room...but not for say 2 couples. Have fun, we did!

The kitchen was very well equipped. The furniture, especially the sofa in the living room was old and uncomfortable. A partly burned big chunk of wood was in the fireplace which we had to remove to start our own fire. The cabin was pretty clean but there was no toilet paper provided. All in all, we enjoyed it.

The cabin is private and walking distance to the lake. It comfortably fit our group of four adults and two children.

The cabin is very cute and cozy. We had an enjoyable stay. The only issue is that it was not very clean. Also, I couldn't find information on what bedding was provided prior to our stay. Overall, we had a wonderful time!

We've been going to this quint cabin for several years and it's like coming to our home away from home. So inviting and the location is perfect for fishing, hiking, a campfire some years. I love this place!
