Silver Bar Campground

About Silver Bar Campground

Silver Bar Campground is located approximately five miles southwest of Aspen, Colorado, on the banks of Maroon Creek. The campground is adjacent to the Maroon Bells Welcome Station. This small, primitive, campground features four tent-only, walk-in sites with centralized vault toilets only a few yards away from each campsite. A single accessible campsite is located near the toilets and water source. The campground sits at an elevation of 8,460 feet, allowing guests to experience warm summer days and cool evenings with probable afternoon thunderstorms. Properly licensed anglers may fish in Maroon Creek, which runs along the eastern edge of the campground. Come prepared for changing weather conditions. Snow is possible even at the peak of summer.

Got to gate after driving for two days ,they turned us away because of a bear visiting camp . Found this odd when the night before at another camp bear went though and no seem concerned. I'm all for not harming the bears , but talking with the ranger seem like they were not going to do much about the bear. Call ahead before getting there and have second plan.

Absolutely wonderful experience staying at this campground. Right off the road that heads up to Maroon Lake, so it is easily accessible. Our campsite was right next to the Maroon Creek, so it was not only beautiful, but it also drowned out any cars driving up the road. Easy access to a bunch of hikes. I highly recommend the hike up to Cathedral Lake and, of course, Crater Lake.

Wonderful experience as always. Silver bar Campground has only four sites and it was Far Enough from the Welcome station that it was quiet. It was also very roomy and there was a nice shady place under the trees and also by the river to play in for the kids. The bathroom is kept extremely clean and it was nice to have so much room. You're also close enough to have Wi-Fi for texting which is helpful.

Wonderful camping. The weather was very mild, even at night and early in the morning. The night sky was bright with stars. Great chance to watch meteors and satellites. The camp site was generously spaced from the few others in Silver Bar. Lack of water was not an issue. The camp ground was close to the road, so during the day you heard traffic, which kept you from feeling you were "deep in the woods," but overall it was great being in such a beautiful spot for four nights.

People visiting should know camping here is a very public experience, somewhat like camping in a parking lot. Good for short term stays and very clean, but not much privacy or seclusion.

We love this campsite! There are only a few sites here and they are spaced far apart and are also very lush so we had a lot of privacy. The tent sites and toilets were very clean and maintained daily. It's a really quick drive up to Maroon Bells and this campsite allows you to access that area at any time with your own car. We will definitely be back!
