Baldy Loop sites are generally larger and more trees, but Baldy is also closer to the highway. Union Park Loop is pretty far from the highway, and a few sites don't have as much shade (2 & 12 thru 16). All sites at both campgrounds are decent size.
All sites in both of these loops have electricity, and each loop has a pair of bathrooms (vault toilets only). Fresh water is available adjacent to the bathrooms. No dump station.
Fire rings usage was okay, even through there was a state-wide fire ban.

Baldy Loop sites 2, 3, 4, 5, 14, & 15 are further from the highway.
Pull-thru sites are 3, 5, 8, and 14.
Baldy Loop sites 8, 10, & 11 are closest to the highway.
Site 2 is close to the loop intersection and to the host. not my fav, but okay.
Baldy Loop site 3 backs up to the hill side, has lots of trees and privacy. It would be at the top of my list.
All Baldy Loop sites also have separate tent pads in addition to RV spots.
I spoke to a couple of different people who return to Baldy Loop every year. The hosts, Thelma and Chuck, were great.

Union Park Loop site 2, 10, 17, & 21 are pull-thru.
Union Park sites 14, 15, 17, 20, and 21 offer the most privacy. Site 17 is at the top of my list.
Tenters will have a good spot at any Union Park Loop site, but most don't have separate tent pads. A few do, and those can hold both an RV and a tent.
Overflow parking is next to Union Park Loop, most easily accessed from sites 2 through 10.

There is also the Park Cone campground. Not all sites there have electricity. Separate entrance. Looked nice.

Cell service at Lottis Creek: No AT&T. Drive 6 miles to Taylor Lake and get good AT&T voice and data. Go at least as far as the Scenic Overlook parking. I was told that Verizon (sorta) works at the Baldy Loop sites that are closer to the highway.

Arrived in a snow storm and it stayed cold and white the whole time but the campground was clean and beautiful. The hiking and fishing in the immediate area was amazing and Jess the host was very nice!

We tent camped on the Friday of Labor Day Weekend. I found the host Jesse to be very friendly and helpful. The campground was quiet and the bathrooms were clean. Some of the sites are a little close together and lack shade, but overall would return to this campground.

From Gunnison, Colo., travel north on Highway 135 for 10 miles to Almont. At intersection of State Rt. 135 and County Rt. 742, take Rt. 742 for 16.7 miles to campground sign. Turn right into campground.
Lottis Creek Campground is accessible via State Highway 135, which leads north from Gunnison. The campground is located approximately 16.7 miles from the intersection of State Rt. 135 and County Rt. 742.
Elevation: 2767 feet
27 mi drive to downtown Gunnison (about 38 min)
Policies & Rules
General
- Standard Single Family sites: Recreation Use Fee allows ONE camping unit ONLY.
- Late Arrivals: campers are not considered a "no-show" until 24 hours after arrival date check in time. Our policy is that your site will not be released before that.
- FIRST COME FIRST SERVE sites must be booked in person. DO NOT call to determine availability, as they are only available on-site.
- Extra Vehicles: Cannot be paid for in advance - upon arrival coordinate with host for payment and where to park.
- Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing organisms by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
- If using an Interagency Senior Pass or an Interagency Access pass, holder of this pass must be present with card and a picture ID for the park to honor the discount. The Interagency Annual Pass is not accepted.
