About Crescent Mining Camp

Cabin campers can escape the city - and escape modern day amenities - by staying at the fully rustic, historic Crescent Mining Camp cabins. The cabins offer a true old fashioned taste of life on the mine in the 19th century, with no electricity or running water. Visitors can focus on the sounds of nature and the incredible views of the Rocky Mountains from its creekside location. The mining camp was built in the 1890s during the boom of mining and milling in Clear Creek Canyon. Miners sought mostly gold and silver, and attracted about 50,000 residents in the valley that is now rather remote. The cabins are adjacent to a road heavily used by off-highway vehicles (OHV) but have a private drive with a locking gate. Crescent Mining camp is a good location for OHV enthusiasts, but not visitors seeking quiet and solitude

What Guests Are Saying

Crescent Mining Camp is a beautiful location that offers a great outdoor experience, particularly for larger groups. The cabins provide a convenient alternative to tents, and the area is rich in wildlife, making it enjoyable for nature lovers. While access requires a higher clearance vehicle and some maintenance is needed for the cabins, visitors appreciate the clean facilities and the opportunity to connect with nature.

What a beautiful place! You definitely need a higher clearance vehicle as the drive in has a few tricky spots but it is well worth it. Be sure to bring ALL necessary supplies as there is nothing nearby. The outhouse was in great condition and honestly the cleanest one I’ve ever seen. We can’t wait to go back next year for a longer stay!

We stay there every year and this year did not disappoint! The other cabins have bats in them that were fun to watch emerge each night and we saw plenty of other wildlife, some of it wandering right through the site. The mice are no joke though. They’re crafty and persistent. Do not leave ANY food out and lock everything inside your vehicle or they’ll find it.

Beautiful location. Cabins are four walls and a floor but its nice to not have to put up and break down a tent. Its right next to the stream and trails. Great location for a large group. Only small issue it the ten mile dirt road getting to the location. Road is not to bad and you can make is in a regular vehicle, just a long drive on a bumpy road. Vault toilet was in good condition. The area is picked clean of firewood so bring a saw for some deadfall. I will visit this location again but next time with a bigger group and hike more of the awesome trails! Highly recommend!

We LOVE this camp site! It's our third time up in as many years, and it's a blast every time. We appreciate the toilet on site and just the seclusion this site provides from the road and other camp sites. It's so close to water with nice trails around. We've learned to pack fans for those HOT summer cabins and also make sure to get a good clean in before setting up the cabin. The place could use some TLC, especially with screens and keeping critters out of the cabins. Happy to do work on them the next time we're up there. Can't wait for our next visit!

We love the Crescent Mining Camp. This time we went to watch the Perseid Meteor Shower. Not the best view (a lot of trees and mountains) but a beautiful night and we love Crescent Mining Camp so much. Our dogs love the chipmunks!

The cabins are perfect for families looking to camp but not tent camping. The restroom is clean and has the toilet papers. I saw many sedan cars around the cabin so yes you can drive your sedan to it. The little waterfall is within walking distance
