The road work was ridiculous, we had to wait an hour to get up the road to our campsite and when leave we had to wait 45 minutes. They need a different system for the road construction, it’s not ok to hold people up for that long. The actual campsite was awesome with great views.

Stayed two nights in spots 16 and 21. Views are magnificent of the valley below and the sand dunes. Short east hike to Zapata falls which is well worth it. Camp host was great, great place to stay!

This campground was very much worth the drive up the mountain!

The campground host was great! He helped me get my car unlocked after I locked the keys in it. He was very willing to help out and stuck with it until we got it unlocked.
We stayed at 3 different sites - it was the only way for us to stay for 3 nights. We had a teardrop camper. The sites are very rocky and uneven; but nicely spaced. And you can't beat the views. Best not to go if wind is predicted though!

The campsite was beautiful!!! The unpaved road uphill was rough for my little car but other than that it was amazing! Nothing beats staying in the mountains!

Beautiful views, clean toilets. Food lockers add ease!
Sites set up to enjoy views but not for use. Fire grills access limited, at the edges of drop offs. Large loose rocks on access to tent pads, cacti in excess.

Great campground with great views. Close to great hiking and Great Sand Dunes NP. It was a bit windy for us but we managed. The road up has been improved but still take it slow, a few washboard areas, we had no trouble towing our small camper. Would not recommend for large campers or motor homes.
