Nice group site for tents and campers. Good space for kids to play and a nice picnic area with firepit. Toilets close by. Weather can be hazardous in the spring, so the hail and rain weren't good , but that was only for one night.

Pleasant campground with benefit of warm weather for early spring camping. Buttes Trail as well as Jackson Lake State Park are reasonable half day destinations, albeit over unpaved roads much of the way. No water for this stay. Local gas station has limited hours.

Great plains campground. Both reserved and first come/first served sites - about 10 total plus group camping. Level spots, most accommodate camper plus tent. Picnic table, fire ring and charcoal grill on each spot. Couple double sites. Vault toilets. I read no water in 2021 but is usually a faucet in summer. No electric. Close to Briggsdale - DOES have cell service. Sites not real close together, some have shade, some have lots of sun. Campground host is a very nice feller! Lots of birds (I love the whipperwill song) and bird watching info. You will prolly hear coyotes howling. We found some small bones and a rattlesnake fang!

I thought there would be electrical hookups, so that I could use my CPAP machine. We only stayed the first night because I couldn't sleep since I was unable to plug in my CPAP to help me breathe. I had to forfeit two prepaid addition days.

A++++++++ 10/10 birbs. Seriously, lots of bird watching in the trees, and out in the grassland. Also highly recommend the rusted farm implement museum.
Great sites, decently spread apart, sparkling clean bathrooms, the short trails are great for an evening walk, make sure to leave plenty of time, like 2-3 hours, (and water and gas) if you're planning on doing the scenic drive. Be advised some of the sites don't have shade, and there is some road noise, but earplugs and an awning will take care of that.

Go to for bird and star gazing. Well run campground. Little amenities so bring everything you need.

The camp host did a great job of keeping all areas clean! He also kindly provided us with a map of the area, as some roads were closed due to construction, it was very helpful.

Bathrooms unbelievably clean and pleasant, as well as campgrounds well maintained, and great views!!!! Cannot rave enough!!

Nice area rich in history; quite peaceful with a lot of birds. Plenty of shaded area and concealment with the vegetation. However, there seemed to be a fair amount of long-stay people going in and out. Facilities were in good shape and bathrooms even smelled nice. Recreation areas were in disrepair, though.

From Ault, Colorado, at the intersection of US Hwy 85 and Colorado State Hwy 14, take Colorado State Hwy 14 east for 22.7 miles, then take Weld County Road 77 north for 0.3 mile.
The campground is accessible via Colorado State Hwy 14, which connects to US Hwy 85 approximately 22.7 miles to the west.

Policies & Rules
General
- No RV water connections are available.
- This is bear country! For bear and human safety, keep a clean campsite and do not place food or other attractants in your tent. For more information about visiting bear country, contact Colorado Parks and Wildlife at http://wildlife.state.co.us
- Off-road vehicle use is prohibited within campground
- Shooting, archery and fireworks are prohibited
- Extra parking is not available
- Sites may be available on a first-come, first-served basis outside the reservation season
- Fees at the educational site and the group picnic site are calculated by the number of people using the site.

- Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing organisms by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
- All campsites must be occupied within 26 hours of the beginning of the reservation. If not present the site will be rented by first come first serve basis.
- EXTRA VEHICLE FEES: One vehicle is included in your reservation. Any additional vehicles will be charged $8.00 per vehicle per night and will be collected by the camphost. There is not a way to pay for extra vehicles when you make your reservation. One vehicle consists of one camper being towed by vehicle, or any other vehicle towed behind camper. One van or one truck with camper attached counts as one vehicle.
- Fire Restrictions: Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed.
- Maximum Vehicle Length: 35' on single units, 30' at the Lark group site.
- Modifications for this campground must be made through Recreation.gov PRIOR to your reservation start date. Customers and contact center agents cannot modify reservations on or after the check-in date.
