What Guests Are Saying

The Upper Crossing Guard Station offers a fantastic getaway with its well-equipped cabin, beautiful scenery, and numerous hiking and biking trails right from the property. Guests appreciate the clean and comfortable accommodations, making it feel like a glamping experience. While cell service is limited and the cabin shows some signs of wear, it remains a beloved spot for family reunions and nature lovers, with many returning year after year.

The Upper Crossing Guard Station is a wonderful basecamp for all sorts of adventures in the northern San Luis Valley. From fishing to hiking to climbing and mountain biking, this area is loaded with fun things to do. The Guard Station itself is a wonderfully isolated property, yet the cabin has charm and most of the essential amenities that you will need to be comfortable in between adventures. One of the best features of the Upper Crossing Guard Station is that there is no cell service for miles. Zero. Zilch. So grab a good book, a good friend, or both, as you get away from it all to recharge in the woods!

One of my favorites no matter what time of year I've gone. Easy to get to with only a mile of dirt road to access the cabin. My wife ( who has mobility issues) especially loves the advantages of a full bathroom inside the cabin instead of an outhouse although it's not as big an issue for myself. Noticed very minimal mice activity but I would always recommend not leaving anything out overnight like dirty dishes or any food.
